So Kerry thinks he is black......
Clinton never anointed himself a black President, he allowed others to give him that label.

Kerry anoints himself the second black President which IMNSHO, is such a stretch, it's insulting.

Here we go again, another Democrat taking the black vote for granted.

Civil Rights Group Seeks Kerry Apology

1. The quote says it all
"John Kerry is not a black man — he is a privileged white man who has no idea what it is in this country to be a poor white in this country, let alone a black man," said Paula Diane Harris, founder of the Andrew Young National Center for Social Change.

4. Kerry said : "IF" he "COULD EARN THE RIGHT TO BE"
Last week, Kerry told the American Urban Radio Network: "President Clinton (news - web sites) was often known as the first black president. I wouldn't be upset if I could earn the right to be the second."

Kerry's spokesman Chad Clanton said: "This was intended as a light-natured remark about President Clinton's strong legacy with African Americans. It is a legacy that John Kerry would like to build upon if elected president. John Kerry has a record of fighting for civil rights and as president he will continue this fight."

Big deal about nothing.

8. Perhaps not
I don't dispute the quote. Kerry is yet another child of privilige. It would be nice to vote for someone who actually wasn't made of millions.

16. Neither of them had Kerry's wealth
And Clinton was good at being an everyman.

And, for the record, yes and yes.

And I will vote for Kerry barring stupidity on his part. Still, that doesn't mean I can't be offended when a guy worth half a billion dollars or so says that.

27. Why?
I don't have a lot in common with a guy worth half a billion dollars and, likely as not, he will not appreciate my problems any more than any other rich guy.

And, his wife's money is his and vice versa.

19. Not at all taking for granted, , Kerry was hoping to EARN black support.
He doesn't usually leave himself open to word twisting like this. He's been showing that he's a pretty damn good campaigner and landing fast blows to the Bushwazoo every time they go for him.

I predict W will spend a lot of time in defense mode this year.

To quote W himself as he was about to announce the beginning of the Iraq War and the BBC opened their feed a little early:
"Feels Good!"

10. Kerry did no such thing
direct quote from the article you linked to:

"President Clinton was often known as the first black president. I wouldn't be upset if I could earn the right to be the second."

That is not anointing yourself.

15. This is Amureka and you can vote for whomever you want
So if you feel a humble cowboy, a man of poverty origins, a simple good Christian man from Texas "loves ya' baby" than you just toddle down to that thar votin' box and mark that ballot for that kind and gentle, compassionate conservative. He laid a wreath at the tomb of MLK, you know. That qualifies him to be a champion of Black causes. Of course if he could get all blacks working on those damn plantations again, he wouldn't have to have his corporate buddies outsource all those jobs.

Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 10:27 PM by Dr Fate
...who was given that nickname by non-racists. He was saying that he wanted to "EARN" the same connection with black voters.

So how is this racist again????

Kerry should continue this sentiment and say somthing like "I want to earn the same connection w/ minority voters that Bill had..."
