Well glad to see people on here are catching onto Stern...

I know many of you here can't stomach Stern, but you gotta admit you're loving his neverending attacks on Bush. I know he can be offending, but come on you have to understand he goes after everyone that's what he does, he catches people with their pants down. Look I'm Hispanic and even I got a little razzed when he had to make that snide little remark concerning Selena's death, but still he's said just as bad if not worse things about every type of group you can think of. I forgave him for it I didn't go around screaming for his boycott or anything. It's just words and it's radio and sometimes his type of obnoxious say whatever the hell I feel like saying is just what someone needs in the morning during rush hour.

Fact of the matter is Stern is a powerful ally at a time like this with millions of listeners and his hate for the Bush family is very well known ever since he was in hot water with the FCC while he worked with NBC.

If you think you hate him just remember Radical Neo-Conservatives who hold power hate him 10,000 times more than you ever will.

Unfortunately I live in Tucson now so I don't get Stern :o(

2. It seemed like he lost his way for a while

I used to listen pretty regularly in the early 90's, but I got tired of all of the commercials and Howard constantly talking about himself.

That's changed now. Bush, Mel Gibson and the FCC have unleashed a monster. Howard can't do his normal shtick now because the morality police are watching him, so he's switched to attacking Bush, which cannot be censored legally by the FCC. If they attack him now he becomes a martyr. I wish I could have seen the look on Michael Powell's face when Howard went after HIM!

I love the fact that this facet of the culture wars has backfired so badly on Bushco. The way Howard is handling this is pure genius. Say what you will about the man, but he knows his craft and he knew if he'd have just laid back he would have been Bush's sacrifice to the Religious Right Wing. Instead he went on the attack.

I'm going to make it a point to send a letter to the local LA station broadcasting Howard Stern supporting their bravery in keeping Howard this weekend. I've listened every day this week as much as possible and he has been great. Today he talked about Bush's SAT scores and the myth that Bush scored higher than Gore (he didn't: Bush scored 1200 and Gore 1300 and change respectively).

I highly recommend giving him a listen.

3. I admit I love what Stern is doing,
However, he is such a gigantic hypocrite I can't help but feel he is getting what he deserves (re: his getting dropped from Clear Channel).

I used to listen to him somewhat regularly, but I stopped completely after he came out in favor of the firing of Opie and Anthony over the Church sex stunt. I was shocked when he did that and concluded at the time he was a phony.

Having said that, I am glad he has decided it is in his own best interests to attack Bush, he is definitely good at it and he has a lot of ears. But I feel he is only doing it for his own interests and not the greater good.

5. god this sucks..
i live in orlando (read: clearchannel monopoly land) and have been listening to howard every day for the past 5 years-even through the recent bush-can-do-no-wrong phase. now, when he is probably talking about the topics i have been waiting for for the past 2 years, I CAN'T HEAR IT!!! i hope someday these past few shows end up on the internet, i really feel like i am missing a historical moment in radio (not to mention the stern show) Glad to see he is still grilling bush though.

6. Admittably I haven't been able to listen to Stern for so long..

I've heard he's become stale since he moved out to LA. I only remember and see him as the Stern that I knew when I listened to him in NYC many years ago off and on, and whenever I go back to visit family I caught him, but I've been in Tucson now for over a decade where Stern is non-existant.

The thing with Stern and the FCC is put simply I believe it was around the late 80's early 90's the Christian Coalition types from Pat Roberts to the rest of the 700 club types were all going after him and I think Bush Sr. and his wife at the time spoke out against him but don't quote me on that I vaguely remember it, but essentially Stern was "fired" from WNBC after years of pressure.

Sorry I can't get into too detailed.

He was actually supporting Bush for a time?? hmm well that's news to me. I always remember him as having a complete feud with the entire Bush family at least on his radio show he never missed a moment to slam Jeb and Barbara and of course George Sr. and tell all the listeners to vote for Clinton.

Oh thank you for my 4th welcome now. Talk about family values DU! :-)

7. Howard is funniest when he has a dorky villain to target
Like that woman from the morning show -- always talking about her kids and her husband, and it turned out her clothes line was being manufactured by child laborers. What a joke. He crucified her. And he is being equally merciless to Bush. Hilarious!

group: alt.binaries.howard-stern. I just checked: it has recent shows broken into parts for downloading. (Just don't ask me a techie question, I don't use the group.)

10. I have hated Howard Stern since I first heard him . . .
oh so many years ago, and my initial reaction to him being booted off the Clear Channel stations was a big grin . . . HOWEVER, now that he's spending his air time lambasting Bush, I am more than willing to set my prejudices aside and shout "You GO, Howard!" . . . when it comes to opposing Bush, I'll take help anywhere we can get it . . . and, for reasons that remain unfathomable to me, Howard does have a hell of a lot of listeners . . .
