McCain-Feingold on Minor Contributions
FEC site says

Contributions by minors

Prohibition on contributions by minors declared unconstitutional

Minors may now make contributions to candidates and political parties

But on JohnKerry.com it says I can't contribute if I'm under 18.

GeorgeWBush.com says Contributions from corporations, government contractors, foreign nationals without a "green card," and minors (individuals under the age of 18) are prohibited.

Why? :(

I gave my $10 to DU already, but when I get paid again I'd like to donate again.

We've been in contact with the Kerry camp but haven't heard back. We're trying! One of our members has some close ties to the campaign.

Also we called the Bush camp. But they flat-out opposed it.

5. Not 100% sure.

He's the president. What I do know is that we called (at least) the Bush campaign and the Young Republicans, and they were not very receptive at all.

You should definitely e-mail or call the Kerry folks to get them on the light side, though.

6. Even if minors are allowed, legally, to contribute
an individual campaign can accept, or not, what it wants. It's possible that John Kerry, et. al., are keeping the prohibition in place because it's not 100% settled yet, and they don't want to have to refund a bunch of contributions. (Or, JK could just not want people who can't vote for him to send their money, which is his right.)

7. A response from John Kerry!

Dear Friend,

Thank you so much for writing in to ask about making a contribution to the John Kerry for President Campaign. We are glad that you feel so strongly about John Kerry, and very much appreciate the help you are offering.
Thank you kindly for pointing out the Supreme Court ruling. You are correct in that you can contribute, as long as the money is coming from your own personal funds.

If you prefer, you can make a contribution by phone at 1-866-455-3779.

Or, you can mail your contribution, either in cash or by a check from your own bank account, to:

John Kerry for President, Inc.
P.O. Box 77247
Washington, DC 20002

Again, thank you in advance for your contribution and for supporting John Kerry.

8. Even as an under-18 y/o
we shouldn't be allowed. It just lets rich people donate in their children's name. So one guy or woman could donate $6 or $8 thousand if he or she has 2 or 3 kids.
