Do you-all think there's a connection between the puncturing of the
Karl Rove evil-genius myth and the discovery of the Rethuglicon hacking of Democratic Congressional computers? All of a sudden, Chimpy's teflon seems to have disappeared. Could it be that their teflon was partially just forewarned is forearmed, and now they're not forewarned?

1. I feel we are being set up for "The Triumphant Comeback"
I believe Rove has said they were planning to run W as the "underdog." All of these "Rove has lost his MOJO" articles feel like some sort of plot to me. . .that they are setting him up for his Triumphant Comeback. Just a creepy feeling I have.

I am optimistic about Kerry's/Our chances. But Rove has not reallly begun to fight. They are going to outlaw MoveOn etc, and then go in for the kill w the dirtiest nastiest lyingist stuff than can create, aided and abetted by FAUX, Rush, Etc.

3. I think we also need to be on the look-out for illegal tactics
Nothing is below desperate cornered Repugs. As Bartcop asks: What would evil people do to maintain world power and unbelievable wealth?

2. No doubt there's something to that
...but the real reason is that the emperor has no clothes, the fat lady has sung on their whole platform, the lights are all on but nobody's home, and a slim majority of folks out there in TV land are starting to realize they've been exactly wrong about everything, no matter what the nightly news has told them.

After all, the thickest Teflon won't protect anyone who throws people out of work at home, fattens plutocrats while cutting social services and tax breaks (EIC) for working folks, and starts two disastrous wars while Enronning their numbers of dead. That doesn't even begin to address the stuff Mr. and Mrs. America don't know about, like the stonewalling of the 9/11 commission, the massive conflicts of interest with pet corporations, and the colossal inattention to the real dangers that face this country while they pretend the world conforms to their screwball ideology.

Yes, the hacking of Dem computers (which makes Watergate look like a mere peccadillo) did warn them what mean things Democrats were going to say so that they could issue preemptive statements, call bogus terra alerts, and pretend to capture bogeymen so that the stuff would be kept off the news. The truth is squeaking out anyway, though, every time folks realize that their jobs aren't safe, their kids aren't safe, and the whole bunch in the White House are walking around with their heads jammed firmly up their rectums.

4. You know something, I wish you were right....I just don't know.
"The truth is squeaking out anyway, though, every time folks realize that their jobs aren't safe, their kids aren't safe, and the whole bunch in the White House are walking around with their heads jammed firmly up their rectums."

I have spoken to various individuals in the last few days, one just last night. People are just NOT informed as we are here at DU. I made a comment to an acquaintance/friend at a little league game. My comment was about how I disliked our president, I did not state any reason. She asked me if I was a Democrat, I lied, and answered "no." She told me that she was a Republican, and her biggest complaint was the immigration thingy. I also discussed 9/11 with a family member and they stated that if there was something fishy the Democrats would be on it and it would be all over the news.

You know I look around me and I just don't see the awareness of the state of our country from people I come into contact with. I just want to scream, "have you no idea what the hell is happening to our country." Sadly, the truth is they don't. Everyone I know is going to work, running home feeding kids, running to little league and softball games, going home putting a load in the washer and going to bed. They are absolutely clueless, and not just that, they DON'T WANT to know.

5. I'm a little more sanguine about that
...but I rarely wait for other people to bring up the subject. While waiting in line at McBank, where they show CNN so the folks won't complain about the lack of tellers, I've said "HYPOCRITE!" in a stage voice every time Chimp's commercials air, and people have actually applauded! I never pass up an appropriate occasion to make a wisecrack about that gang of idiots. I want people who have noticed what is going on but who are puzzled because the netword news hasn't that they're not crazy, that they're right, and that it's OK to say so, whenever and wherever.

We're just at that tipping point in public opinion, and I'm out there giving it a gentle nudge. I would hope others would, too. Don't be confrontational, just make remarks in passing. That's what does the job.

6. I like that

I feel the same way. People need to know they aren't alone. That was part of why I put bumper stickers on my car. I know some people think it's silly... but it was my way of saying "HEY I'm out here!!!"
