While another such attack may be shocking on some level, it wouldn't have the paralyzing shock value of the 9-11-01 operation.

I see this situation differently.....

I believe they are hyping up a (non existent) threat, which they will "prevent" from happenning, naturally, so Junior can go into campaign mode with the claim that "thanks to our leadership, Homeland Security , Patriot Act, etc. there hasn't been a single terrorist act in America since 9-11-01. So re-elect me, or those silly Democrats will have Al Qaeda on your doorstep"

What better way to get the Canadians to back them in their 'war on terra'? My sister lives in Vegas, right across from the airport. If ANY city is hit, I will personally go to D.C. and demand that these men be removed from office for endangering the lives of the American people. There should NOT be another attack when we've had more than 2 years to beef up security and intelligence. Clinton had the intelligence to prevent the Y2K, other attacks, and even WWIII, so I'm told by military sources. We must assume that unless they are ignoring it, the Bushies have the same intelligence that was available to Clinton. If there is another attack, they will have a lot to answer for. It will be a gross miscalculation to assume that the American people are going to react the same way they did after 9-11 and cow-tow to the Bush agenda. The Bushies will be held responsible this time, and god help these bastards.

Airlines, cruise lines, hotels, rent car companies, tourist attractions, theme parks, etc, etc. Every time some asshole like Lott opens his or her mouth with more vague and irresponsible innuendo of attack, the US economy is adversly impacted.

If you listened to Brer Trent, the operational news in his comments was his support for releasing the Saudi pages. He only excepted the small portion showing intel tells. And that is the dem Senate committee position a la Graham and Rockefeller. If any of this came to a hard vote (unlikely) in the Senate, Bush woud be in rough seas.

I go for the 'we prevented a disaster' - because you agreed to the Patriot Act. In the meantime, another airline may succumb, gas prices will soar over Labor Day, plans to fix next winters sky high oil prices will be set, and the disaster prevented will be at a city where the support numbers are slipping.
