Heroes
Is Ms Lynch a heroine? Is Mustapha, Uday's (or Qusay's?) son a hero?
What exactly makes a person a hero(ine)?

2. I like to think....
...that heroism, in the truest sense of the word, is defined by selfless acts in defense of others: Throwing yourself in front of a bullet meant for somebody else, rescuing a drowning person, ect....Jessica Lynch is courageous, at best....As it turned out, the truth about her heroism in combat was exaggerated, to say the least, but this doesn't diminish her stature as someone who doesn't have heroic qualities, as "courage" is certainly one of the ingredients needed to be a good soldier.

Uday and Qusay need not apply.

5. I posted "Heroes"
after reading:

http://www.yellowtimes.org/article.php?sid=1508

by Lisa Walsh Thomas.

Ms Lynch who was captured after being in an accident was rewarded with medals. According to the reports, Mustapha (Mustafa), Saddam Hussein's fourteen year old grandson singlehandedly fought the foreign occupying force after his father and uncle have been killed.
I bet he is/will be a hero to many Iraqis.

4. You need the media to make you a hero.
Jessica Lynch did her duty but is not a hero. The Hussein brothers might be heroes to their own people.
