HUME: Which tools would they be in follow-on legislation, the Patriot Act II, as it might be called? What do you ...

ASHCROFT: Well, I wouldn't call it Patriot Act II, but I would just say this: There are, for example, 330 areas, like health care fraud or things like that, nursing home fraud, where you can demand records on the basis of an administrative subpoena from administrative agencies in the United States.

HUME: No judge?

ASHCROFT: You don't have to go before a judge to do it. These are not necessarily -- these are business records.

HUME: These are regulated areas, though.

ASHCROFT: Yes.

HUME: You're talking about doing this under regulatory power, correct?

ASHCROFT: In some of those areas. In others, circumstances vary.

It seems to me that anti-terrorism is not below the 330th priority in our culture, that some -- let me give you an example.

Okay.............I think we need to find out what Ashcroft and his cronies define as a TERRORIST. Because......seems to me...a "terrorist" in their minds is any person ...especially US citizens, who might not agree with them.

Drug fraud? So would Nicole Bush be at the top of the list?????? Uh oh.

no...but people knew there was becuase they had seen the bill.

I guess the media decided not to "investigate" why the deception and the bullshit this guy has pulled on the American people.

I'm telling you...these laws are to be used against US....we are what they are afraid of...becuase we ask questions and see throught their bullshit.

I wasn't about to watch Faux. I can second the fact that Ashcroft said in front of congress that there wasn't going to be a part II.
Course, we know he's a liar just like the rest of them.

I watched him live answering Patrick Leahy. The copy of the Patriot Act II was leaked to the press, evidently had been reviewed by Hastert, and hit the newspapers. Several weeks later (maybe even a couple months), Leahy confronted Ashcroft with this in a Senate hearing. Ashcroft turned red, squirmed and then issued a script-worthy denial that the thing ever existed. Leahy was great that day...
