What has happened to the fearless and former friend of the USA of Iraq???
I am being serious. I have been keeping up with DU and the latest news as best as I can since his capture in December but I can't recall any information on exactly what we are or are not doing with him. Anybody know? If there has been news about it, then I have missed it. Last I heard the son of a bitch may have cancer. Of course, the guy that shot Oswald somehow got cancer and died before he could tell his story also. Definately things that make you go....hmmmmmm. What is the latest with him?

1. My guess? He's on vacation.
As far as I know, there hasn't been any news at all.

My guess? He's vacationing in Rio, a reward for a job well done.

2. Last report I saw...
... was that he was still being held, and that it could be "up to year" before he could be brought to trial. Plenty of time to make a half-crazed dictator a complete loony....

3. "Saddam 'Enjoying' Interrogation"
Yes--that's actual headline from CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/03/18/saddam.interogation/

"'He's turned out a pretty wily guy who seems to be enjoying the give and take with his interlocutors,' Armitage said in an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Cooperation. 'He sure thinks he's smarter than everyone else, that's for sure.'"

Yes, I'm sure he's "enjoying" it.

5. Unfreaking believable
The CNN article made it sound like he was enjoying his cat and mouse play with the people questioning him. I find that HARD to believe. It's interesting that there has yet to be mention of any kind of trial.....this administration would never let his sorry ass on trial. They were partners back in the good old days. Saddam should have done a little research and educated himself on the "Peak Oil" problem that no doubt has this administration's focus. He could have no doubt cut himself a MUCH better deal he had been willing to "negotiate".

4. Rumsferatu was asked last week and he just laughed his diabolical
laugh and gave a "non-answer." It was quite creepy the look and the laugh. I almost felt he was personally in charge of some kind of torture method which he was reflecting on with great relish...ugh...
