Buzzflash "must reads"
Looks like somebody's been stealing from the * flip-flop list (he he he)
The flip-flopper running for president by Steve Chapman

A guy who uses a hammer on a nail and a screwdriver on a screw, in Bush's book, would be guilty of flip-flopping. A man of principle uses a hammer for every task.

So, was September 11 a trial run? :tinfoilhat:
The Armageddon Plan by James Mann

Rumsfeld and Cheney were principal actors in one of the most highly classified programs of the Reagan Administration. Under it U.S. officials furtively carried out detailed planning exercises for keeping the federal government running during and after a nuclear war with the Soviet Union. The program called for setting aside the legal rules for presidential succession in some circumstances, in favor of a secret procedure for putting in place a new "President" and his staff. The idea was to concentrate on speed, to preserve "continuity of government," and to avoid cumbersome procedures; the speaker of the House, the president pro tempore of the Senate, and the rest of Congress would play a greatly diminished role.

Krugman's always a must read.
Taken for a Ride

Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists." So George Bush declared on Sept. 20, 2001. But what was he saying? Surely he didn't mean that everyone was obliged to support all of his policies, that if you opposed him on anything you were aiding terrorists.

Now we know that he meant just that.

Coincidence? Becoming very common with this administration. (BBV Alert)
Death of a patriot: No more by Bob Fitrakis

The subject line on yesterday’s email read: “Another mysterious accident solves a Bush problem. Athan Gibbs dead, Diebold lives.” The attached news story briefly described the untimely Friday, March 12th death of perhaps America’s most influential advocate of a verified voting paper trail in the era of touch screen computer voting. Gibbs, an accountant for more than 30 years and the inventor of the TruVote system, died when his vehicle collided with an 18-wheeled truck which rolled his Chevy Blazer several times and forced it over the highway retaining wall where it came to rest on its roof.

It's good to have Arianna back.

Let's have two GDPs -- one for Bush Pollyannas, one that tells the truth

Desperate to shore up its highly vulnerable economic flank, Team Bush is turning positively delusional.

Despite more bad news on the jobless recovery front -- 129,000 fewer new jobs in February than forecast -- the White House spinmeisters are acting like everything is coming up roses and daffodils.

"The economy is moving in the right direction, don't let anyone tell you otherwise," chirped Vice President "Pollyanna" Cheney.

And this from a Kansas paper.

EDITORIAL: SICK

A disturbing pattern has emerged with the Bush administration: Don't like the facts or evidence on an issue? Ignore them or misrepresent them. Or suppress them.

No solid evidence on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction? No problem. The recession? Started in the Clinton administration. And so on.

The latest example of this is especially outrageous: A Knight Ridder reporter revealed this week that Richard Foster, a top administration expert on Medicare costs, told colleagues last June that he would be fired or forced to resign if he revealed that the estimated price tag for upgrading Medicare's prescription-drug benefit was far higher than the figure advertised by Congress and the White House.
