and how remarkable that most are unaware of it. First we had the spectacle of 50 police cars "chasing" O.J. Simpson down a hwy at 15 miles an hour. Next we are treated to the stimulating vision of millions taking tv's to work so they wont miss a minute of this circus. Next we have the ebonics flap. No comment on that one Then we have the sorry sorry sight of a 6 yr old in (south carolina?) expelled from school for sexual harrassment because he kissed a 5 year old on the cheek!!!!!!! Imagine if he had kissed another boy!!! Musnt forget lewinsky of course. Ketchup is a vegetable nyah nyah wont come to war??? ok so we dont eat french fries any more - they are freedom fries now (incidentally the idea of fried potatoes is from Belguim but hey all those ferrners sound alike) Not to forget the most bewildering idiocy of all - we have had two presidents who were disliked (bushies) who then initiated a war and who suddenly became very popular!!! Beats me
it is not unlike a major traffic accident, you are horrified that it is happening but you still slow down your car to look. Watching what it happening in the US is very distressing and I keep waiting for sanity to return and the wonderful US citizens that I know take back their democracy.
First of all so called ebonics is merely the result of appalling schooling. Second it is not slang; slang tends to be related to age and vanishes after a certain time - ebonics is permanent. Just how is a person "literate" in ebonics supposed to find work? First its doubtful hell be understood and second why should anyone hire someone who is not only born in this country but cant even speak its language?????
....was in Australia three weeks ago. Although not entirely shocked at their hatred towards the US because of a virtual unanimous Aussie opposition to the Iraq massacre, I have never seen it as high as it is now.
I spent much time telling people there to try to draw a distinction between Bush and his cronies and the American people in general.....explaining the coup of 2000 to them.
But many still believe that Americans must still take the blame for the actions of their government.
