1. great way to make the point--and fast
Nothing will put that argument of theirs in place like this, with pictures.

the thousand women and children who starved to death each week because he sucked all the money out of the oil for food program.

who is better off without saddamn?

42,000 women and children who are alive now because he is no longer in control...that's who. and next week it will be 43000 and a year from now it will be 93,000 women and children alive because of the iraq war.

5. Hmmm...
Careful about the "Saddam sucked all the money out of the oil-for-food program" meme. Relatively speaking, that wasn't a great deal of money, and it wasn't guaranteed to go to citizens anyways.
The twelve year embargo hurt the average Iraqi far worse economically than anything Saddam ever did.

6. Careful? Meme?
How about it's the truth? Billions of dollars skimmed from the program with profits going to Saddam's personal coffers and French and Russian profiteers while the masses suffered.

11. French & Russian profiteers? You mean MONEY is involved in all this??
Are you trying to say that MONEY is a motivating factor behind a particular nations's Iraq policy??

I never would have thought that! Thank goodness the Americans never considered $$$$ in our reasons- all we want is for them to be "free" and to save them from rape-rooms.

The US will GLADY donate all of our Iraq profits to world charites, unlike those greedy non-coalition countries. RIGHT???

8. Yes Bear, we know you support Bush in Iraq...
...You've been posting pro-Iraq war posts since you've been here. It's no secret that you support Bush's positions on that issue.

Dont forget to bring up the "rape rooms"- wait- nahh, too obvious...

Or was that the "other", Bearfart who was doing that? Hard to tell with you.

7. Are you saying he is NOT better off, Comrade????
Dont you know our glorious Congress just VOTED that the WORLD is safer now that Saddam is gone?? That INCLUDES Afghanistan. It's ALL 9-11 terrorism, according to our great leader,Bush.

I detect a tone of skepticism in your post, Citizen # 58472937421A(c)5, please report for re-education...

9. The one you mention was posted at start of Shock 'n' Awe as Iraqis
I'm pretty sure they're from the south of Iraq, but the photo could've been mislabeled.

12. Go ahead and show your pictures
And feel smug while pretending you are morally righteous for it.

I've seen the real pictures. The pictures that Iraqis carry around with them of family and friends who have disappeared. I see them grasping it as they dig with their bare hands throughout the countryside looking for their graves. They are pictures of young people who dared to speak negatively of the regime or are only rumored to have done so. They are yanked from their homes, only to return years later telling of stories of unimaginable torture. Those are the lucky ones. The others never return at all, assumed dead and buried in unmarked graves littered around the country. I've seen the family of these souls crying as they relentlessly attempt to dig countless holes whenever a rumor surfaces regarding a potential gravesite. I've seen them clutch bones and saying it is their dear Haider or Ali who disappeared all those years ago and rationalizing it is them from a scrap of clothing left. Yes, these are the pictures that you won't see. The tear streaked and well-worn pictures of happy and smiling Iraqis posing with friends and family never to return.

13. Interesting point. But all those atrocities years ago were by our client
This country didn't give a damn about those people our client Saddam Hussein was killing until he threatened our oil. I'm appalled by the killing he did, but I'm also appalled by us supporting him for so many years while he did the killing.

I'm appalled by the killing we did and the audacity we've had to say it was for their good. But thank you for your input.

15. But talking about it back then does not help Bush...
...talking about it NOW DOES help Bush, which is apparently the goal for some DUers.

you can usually tell the difference.

14. Wow- I'm forgetting about the WMDs already!!!
WMD's were NEVER the reason most Americans supported this war- it's the RAPE ROOMS!!!

You should send your post to the Bush campaign- nah, wait a minute, this info is already on TV everyday..

17. Well, what exactly has changed for the Iraqi people?
I hear almost daily about raids into people's homes and detainees that have yet to be processed or told what their crime is. I've also heard stories of how they are being abused and mistreated by our own military people. We've created a good number of mass graves ourselves and yet Bush* is praised for being smug and arrogant in his self-righteous conquest of a sovereign nation. Please give me a break!

What's the difference between the people being abused or imprisioned for not agreeing with Saddam and them being abused or imprisioned for not agreeing with us?
