Local Peace rally gets mention by AP

"An anti-war rally and march in Augusta, Maine, drew 1,000 or more participants registering their opposition to U.S. military involvement in Iraq, estimated event organizers and capitol police.

'We've come together basically to say occupation and empire is wrong,' said Tim Sullivan, co-ordinator of the Maine Coalition for Peace and Justice."

(Note, Tim is a fellow Green from a neighboring town. I was unable to go to the rally, but several other folks from the area made it.)

1. Did they have to pay the $2000 rally permit fee???

I read yesterday that they were trying to get a judge to waive it.

1000 in Disgusta (cool!) - anything in Portland or Bangor????

Might hear more on that from Tim on the Greens list later.

Bangor daily news site mostly has articles about unwavering support for troops. But there is also one I am going to check out about a sick soldier who has come home from Iraq.
