Florida - New hire in Governor's office forced to switch parties for job
A friend of mine who was unemployed 6 months (due to state government downsizing) was told she could not work in the Governor’s office if she was registered as a Democrat. A switch to Independent allowed her to get the job.

Is this standard operating procedure? Frankly, I was disgusted.

1. How petty and ridiculous can you get?
And I want to retire there someday. Will I have to change parties to move into the state?

2. Surprisingly
Tallahassee is very Democratic, by-in-large. Big college town with a very educated population.

You will have to hit your head with a LEAD PIPE until your IQ drops below 50 if you want to live in WPB or vote Repuglican

4. LOL
Thankfully you don't have to change parties to move here :) Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach are the main Democratic areas. The only places I'd probably avoid are Pensacola and Jacksonville, those tend to be the most conservative regions. There was actually a bill introduced in the State Senate a few years ago that would force Miami-Lauderdale-WPB to secede from the rest of FL and become a separate state. Frankly, I often wish we would do just that!
