Is it possible that Lieberman is being the smart one here?

People like Dean, Gephardt, and Kerry all might have chances of winning New Hampshire and Iowa. But what about the states that come after that, like Arizona, Delaware, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and South Carolina? If these states are more conservative, and Lieberman sweeps them, wouldn't that give him a lot of momentum?

Clearly, my mind is open enough to consider the possibility. It's an interesting point that someone made to me. I haven't seen it here, so I thought I'd bring it up.

You never make statements. You just ask questions and sometimes those questions are, shall we say, rather transparent.

And I am not transparent.

Now, I haven't seen too many of this person's posts, so maybe they do have an agenda without wanting to show it, but I'll take the question on face value for now.

I don't think Lieberman is being too smart by focusing on the later primaries. I was under the impression that they are all about momentum. I see three possibilities after Iowa/NH-

1. Dean wins both. He's leading in some polls in both states. At very least he's competitive. If that happens I think his momentum will be very difficult to overcome and will glide to the nomination.

2. Kerry wins NH, and Gephardt wins Iowa. Dean falls behind and neither Kerry now Gephardt gets too much momentum. This is the best for Lieberman, but I still think he'll have a very tough time, especially if his polling numbers keep dropping.

3. Dean splits NH and Iowa. I think then Dean will have to fight for the nomination the whole way, but will still be the clear frontrunner.

And the worst thing in the world is that he could somehow win the Dem nomination.

I, for one, would seriously consider abstaining from voting altogether if Lieberman were the nominee.

It will make him look real bad. People will wonder why he, the former VP nom, could not do better.

He might be able to pull it off, but I don't think so. He has been to Iowa and N.H., so he cannot say he sat them out like McCain did in Iowa. He will also be hurt by lack of money. Some money people are already worried about him, a bad showing will not help him out.

Just my thoughts.
