Can you feel it?
Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 09:26 PM by CatWoman
Today has been quite interesting.

Eyes are being opened all over the country.

Bush is standing there right in front of them buck naked.

Talk show hosts are stone silent. Aside from the usual assholes (Hannity and Rush), they are mostly mute. *crickets chirping*

The people defending * all sound like a bunch of maniacs. Either that, or they are smug assholes whose only defense is "Clarke is a liar".

Hell, I just watched Dan Abrams tear apart a Bush propagandist.

Can you feel it?

4. Little glimpses
Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 09:27 PM by mtnester
Overheard in coffee shops, restaurant, etc. I just hear little snippets of conversations (hate, asshole, etc used) and then the word Bush* inserted. I am old enough to have been around for quite a few elections, and I have not heard this kind of vitrol since Nixon.

We have to give to Kerry until he has at least half what Bush does to have any hope of winning.

Howard Dean had a bunch more money than Kerry, too.

Kerry has already taken on someone with a huge money lead who was seemingly unbeatable, and beaten him fairly soundly.

And he did it the same way he's beating Bush.

big words for so little interaction.

But it is true what you say.

However, it's different now.

Republicans are turning on each other. Publically. This is a first.

Republican voters are turning on Bush in large numbers. This is a first.

Republican talk show hosts have shut the fuck up. This is a first.

It can only get better.

They can neutralize Clarke just like they did O'Neill. By November most Americans will have totally forgotten Clarke's points.

But, what I hope is that they go too far smearing Clarke and some friend of his still on the inside goes public to back him up on every point. Then I might just get the feeling!

The show begins tomorrow with Powell's testimony.

I think even if people have forgotten about this by August, there is this feeling i have that this cuts right into the heart of character and that's why the administration is so worried. I believe the damage has been done and no matter how they try to fix things they are unfix able. When voters go to the booth in November and they are not sure this will turn them against bush.

They will know go to plan b, which i believe is to sling mud at kerry and make it a mud fest, so as to make voter turnout as low as possible and hope that Nader takes enough votes away from kerry. This can all change but i think this is all possible.

39. Im afraid Ive sunk into despair.
wish I could feel it. Im on this cutting edge daily of pins and needles. Bush literally took our kid and is using him as cannon fodder in Iraq. I guess I feel this overwhelming sense of despondency that I wont see any justice, and havent seen any yet. I have seen snippets of things here and there but I am impatient. I want something to happen, nothing is happening. There is this great brick wall of lies we have been beating our heads against since 2000 and now I beat even stronger with a kid in Iraq, its a desperate beating, Im pounding my fists and shaking off a few bricks on the wall but who will be the big guns and blow the whole wall of lies down? Im not important, Im some 52 year old lady I dont have the money Soros has, I cant even find a job. I am spending my retirement monies calling lawyers and senators and congressmen to fight this and theres no one leading the charge , or saying Bush LIED and should be IMPEACHED
the outrage is simmering. I want to see it boil.
I wish I could feel change.

It seemed so weird to me, yesterday, watching 60 minutes and listening to this guy say things that to me (and us) are OLD NEWS.

It's like somebody saying "the sky is blue" and everybody going all hysterical about it.

WTF????

Why isn't he in jail? Why is he still in office? How many more crimes is he gonna commit before January 20th???

Why are we putting up with this shit?

Why is everybody ecstatic that he's merely going to be voted out in November?

He needs to be in jail. Yesterday!

42. I hope...
I don't spend much time watching TV so I don't get to get a feel for this stuff.

But I'm very optimistic (not really my nature :)) that the continuing pile-on of revelations from ex Bush* staffers is taking its toll.

Condi and Cheney and whoever can come on TV and blame it all on lies but after the 3rd or 4th time people, even disconnected, apathetic people, start thinking... where there is smoke there is fire.

Eventually, if not now, certainly in the month to come - there will be a sea change. Bush* will no longer get the benefit of a doubt from most of the media, and most of the people. When this tipping point happens, Bush* will be over in literally days.

I am confident this will happen before the election. It will.

49. Oh, it was SO nice to watch Abrams rip her a new one (read this)
He told her the only way you can talk off this book and all the points made in it is to say Clarke is lying about it all. He also pointed out that Clarke is a career person, not a politician.

It's all bullshit and anyone who is not in complete denial knows it. The trailer for Hardball actually compared the 9/11 commission reporting tomorrow to coverage of Watergate!

This is the beginning of the end.

54. DH came home from the office
this evening, talking animatedly about the "R"'s in his office and how FIRED UP they were after last night's "60 Minutes." They're saying aloud that they will either stay home or vote for Kerry on Election Day. DH doesn't discuss politics at the office, so he listened quietly, and told me this evening that he was shocked.

I agree with the "stone silence" of RW talk show hosts. They brought Crash Cart out for this? Let's face it, the big guns are out, and the book they're most afraid of hasn't even hit the shelves yet.

65. Bill Clinton's book
In the meantime, I believe that there was one more book due to come out by another "disgruntled" member of the * administration that they were even more afraid of. I can't remember the title or the author. Maybe I'll come up with it later :eyes:.

One thing's for sure, this book (and the 60 Minutes interview,) shook them to their core.

Go Richard Clarke, go.

59. Conversation with my retired "snowbird" mom in FL...
My parents are retired "snowbirds" who go to FL for each winter. My mom is in a painting class down there with a bunch of other retired women. The area they are in is part of the "nowhere" section of the middle of the state -- hardly a bastion of extreme liberalism.

My mom told me that, out of her painting class, almost ALL of the people are staunchly anti-Bush. There might be one or two who are pro-Bush, but THEY are actually afraid to say anything out of fear of being torn apart by the rest of the group.

Remember, these people I'm talking about are seniors and retired people. The one thing you can count on them to do is VOTE. Don't look just at the media hype, but if you want to know the dissatisfaction sweeping the nation, look to groups like this, diners, lunch counters, etc. You'd be surprised that this kind of thing has been going on for quite some time.

63. I got an email from Zogby yesterday
inviting me to take a poll.

Thanks to Lynnesin who posted that link, asking for people to sign up to take his polls.

Forgot to check his latest numbers, but really it's all down hill from here.

Hell, even Alan Colmes showed his ass last night.

Alan Fucking Colmes.

Poor Hannity -- what's a Bushbot to do?? :D
