Many useful insights about software development, but sometimes, sometimes...

Take a look at this forum thread. I advise you not to be in process of swallowing any food or drink while eating:

You'll recognize the "style" of the last two comments (a comment and a correction)

Should I include that in my sig line?

1. Well then there is Nokia
"Indeed during the recent dotcom mania a bunch of quack business writers suggested that the company of the future would be totally virtual -- just a trendy couple sipping Chardonnay in their living room outsourcing everything. What these hyperventilating "visionaries" overlooked is that the market pays for value added. Two yuppies in a living room buying an e-commerce engine from company A and selling merchandise made by company B and warehoused and shipped by company C, with customer service from company D, isn't honestly adding much value. "

Kokia is pretty much your virtual company out of Finland. For example back in the mid 80s, Paradyne in Largo Florida was the leading maker of modems. Nokia wanted to get into the modem business so the opened a "design shop" in Largo and hired Paradyne employees and worked them 60-70 hours a week. I interviewed with them and said no thanks. The manager with a straight face told me, "if all goes as planned, we will be able to cut back to a 40-50 hour week in 14 months"

2. How's that particular business now?
And when did you do that interview? Did Paradyne survive?

3. Paradyne is still around
Most DSL modems use their dsl chip and Westell is a complete DSL modem from them.
