Naders evil plan
Does anyone other than me think Nader may be spoiling the election on porpose? Nader wants a viable third party to emerge. Viable as in able to win a presidential election. Under our present, broken, polarised, system this will not happen. Nader knows that if Bush wins our economy is F*cked. This is the most important election since 1932(hoover). The deficit this year alone is 550 billion (More like 800 billion with the hidden costs) and will be a trillion next year. We could accumulate 4 or 5 trillion dollars of extra debt under Bush. This WILL collapse the world economy. Does Nader see this as the only way for his dream(remaking the US political system) to become reality?

3. Here's another possibility
Nader could be in it for getting Bush out of office. He could be just sitting back collecting the donations from Repuke stooges who think he's a spoiler while all along, he's got an Ocober Surprise of his own. In October, he withrdraws from the race and endorses Kerry, spending every dime in his warchest on ad saying he supports John Kerry.

Of course, Sus scrofa domesticus could evolve wings, too!

5. That would be my second guess
That Nader is out to spoil Bush. I have heard him speak about Bush and the effects of bushes ideological madness and he DOES NOT LIKE WHAT HE SEES. Hopefully this is whats happening. Besides these two scenarios I can think of no other reasons he would inject himself into the race.

7. I think you're dreaming!
It would be nice, but I don't see that happening. To run for President, you have to have a Super Ego! Thus, those whit that attribute couldn't run up support only to say, aww that's ok, I'm not running any more. Ego would prevent that!

I'm not sure why he's running. I suspect it's partly because he can. Remember, it keeps him in the spotlight.

4. I don't know
My read on him doesn't really support this, but then again, if this was his strategy he'd have to keep it pretty quiet, wouldn't he?

Frankly if there were anything that would lower my estimation of Nader further, this would be it.

6. If Bush wins
There will only be Republican Presidents and Congresses as far as the eye can see. So far from a thid party we will be a de facto one party state. IS that what Nader wants? apparently Nader doesn't care so long as people pay attention to him.

11. He can campaign all he wants ... he's not on ANY ballots
Which means the most he can get is write-in votes, which rarely amount to much nationwide.

We're wasting time and energy worrying about him, he's a fart on the radar.

12. That may be Nader's plan, but here's the likely reality
Nader gets less than 1% of the vote, becomes a national joke, and we never hear from him again.

13. Call me naive, but...
I believe that Nader is going to drop out of the presidential race just before the elections, endorse Kerry, and urge his supporters to vote for Kerry.

Just a feeling.

15. You have a good point
The Western European countries (along with Australia and Canada) have the best countries to live in right now. In most those countries, if you have a job and lose it, you can count or years or even decades of govt support as long as you need it. Also, if you have an illness, it will not make you destitute, as it might in the USA.

But the reason why most of these countries were able to form these social democracies (and near-social democracies, such as the UK, etc) goes back to WW2, where much of the populace was near destitution. They were all thrown into the cauldron of war, and emerged on the other side as countries where they had a common purpose and had a strong bond with each other. That is why they treat each other well, and why they trust each other. If something like that were to happen in the USA, it might give us a similar govt.

Look at what happened after the Great Depression here in the USA: we got some social programs to help each other out. It we have another catasrophe, we might be able to reform and reshape our govt in the mold of the social democracies.

18. Viable third party? LOL
The chances for a viable third party are between slim and none. If we haven't been able to cobble one together by this point then it's not happening.

It would take an event of almost unimaginable magnitude to actually incent Americans to form a viable, lasting alternative party.

It is possible that such an event could be the collapse of the economy.

However there are two more realistic scenarios.

Scenario 1: Bush wins, the economy collapses, Democrats regain power
Scenario 2: Kerry wins, the economy collapses, Republican say "I told you so" and regain power.

Message for both candidates: Watch out what you wish for because it may come true.

22. NO, I don't think he wants to break the world so that he can rebuild it
If at the DNC convention DK suddenly won the nomination, Ralph would drop out. No question about it.

It's not about Ralph for Ralph, it's about putting a progressive in the White House. If he thought Kerry fit the bill he would not have jumped into the race.

Still, I am not worried about Ralph running. I am far more concerned about $Hrub stealing the election again.
