I'm seeing some threads about this, so let's have a poll.

4. I Loved it.........

I thought it was great, for a first day radio show it kicked ass. Remember Franken has
never done a radio show, he was probably nervous. Still I thought it went great, just
hearing Al refer to himself as Al O'Franken is funny. When they say welcome back to the
O'Franken Factor I laughed.

The part where they lock coulter in the green room and turn the heat up was great. overall
I thought the show was great, and it will only get better.

8. overall it was good
My only criticism is the Ann Coulter in the closet bit. Just not a very clever bit. Al is much funnier than that.

not that I am against trashing Ann, I just want them to do a better job of it.

10. Yeah, I wasn't a fan of that bit....
...and as I mentioned on another thread, I think he has to lay off laughing at his own statements as he's making them. It comes across as distracting. Especially when he seemed to have trouble getting out his thought through his own laughter.

Overall I voted that I liked it, but I hope the rough edges get ironed out soon.

9. It was so-so, but it was liberal talk radio!
It will improve as they get used to the format, etc. But as it stands it was great to hear Franken lambasting the right. They need to get out to a larger market though. A Minnesota AM station picked it up, which is as close to ND (where I am) as it gets, and I still had to find a streaming radio station in order to listen.

11. Mixed reviews here
I was thrilled to hear about this radio network....and listened with glee. Spread the word to all my email lists.

In the end...I can't say I loved that show. The energy was missing. And Kathryn's {SP?) laugh into the microphone drove me nuts.

Granted, I was interrupted several times since I had to listen online...so I might have missed the "flow"...but I hope they improve. Talk radio is obviously a quirky medium.

I'm listening to Randi Rhodes now.

It's a start...and I wish them well. I'll stay tuned...but Franken is so far better in print.

13. Katherine's strength is in conducting interviews
She is a serious journalist, not a comedienne. I always tuned into her show on Minnesota Public Radio. I'm sure they will figure out a way to balance the show. I think they compliment each other very well.

14. Loved it!
It was priceless to listen to Al Gore and Michael Moore. The sketch with Bob of Bob and Ray had us in hysterics. For a first show, it was beyond awesome. I can't wait for more.

I could only listen to the first hour. The opening monologue was pretty much what Al has been saying on Letterman, The Daily Show, etc. lately, I was kind of dissapointed.
It's almost because we have put up with so much reich-wing radio for so long without a voice to respond, I wanted it ALL to be refuted, erased, debunked and destroyed in the first show.
But I know better. It will take time.

16. A little rusty, but give it time
It'll be great to see how the show matures over the next few weeks. I just wish Janeane Garofalo wasn't on past my bedtime.

The Ann Coulter bit was a guilty pleasure, but ultimately superfluous. I would have preferred a little more time for callers or guest comments.

But this is Al Franken's first radio show, and he's got an ex-NPR "handler" riding shotgun, so let's sit back and listen to the fireworks.

17. Only caught the end
so voted didn't hear, but what I did hear was a caller talking about a screener and somebody telling the caller to move it along. The caller seemed to be a psuedo-freeper. It was a little boring. I'm looking forward to hearing more of the show, though. I can't base an opinion on what I heard.

18. Get Over The McVeigh/NY Times Joke
Biggest problem with the show: as one already mentioned, they laughed too much into the mike which interrupted the flow of the show. Seriously, Limbaugh's pretentious approach is more tolerable than one who laughs at every one of his own jokes. Also, Katherine Lanpher is rather weak. "Hey I got a quote for you. Coulter said McVeigh should have gone to the NY Times..." We're way ahead of you sister.

20. More Recent Quotes Needed
Let's go for the throat. In a recent Coulter column, she compared Janet Jackson's Superbowl performance to National Geographic and it got no reaction from the left. If Franken's goal is to hammer the right, he needs a properly equipped Ant-Coulter/Limbaugh co-host.
