3. I am glad she is alive but there are huge problems with this story
I'll wait until they tell us more before I give my two cents. I won't mind it at all is my thoughts are wrong.

6. Definitely something awry. And TOO convenient that the networks
stayed glued to the story and completely cut off their political shows.

7. It's very strange....

It's almost being treated as a bigger national story than it's being treated locally here in Madison.

It's certainly being treated as a big local story, but not really bigger than any of the other weird stuff that happens around here.

Locally so far, it's more of a 'Whew, glad she's okay -- hope they catch the guy who did it' sort of thing, than the 'STOP THE PRESSES!' treatment that it seems to be getting on the national stage.

8. But she's a pretty white coed
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they found her. But I'm tired of only pretty white girls who go missing getting any attention.

9. I don't know how to make this any clearer:
Want to deal the deathblow to BushCo.? Rise up, take to the streets and show up on the front doors of the media headquarters.

They are the head of the snake. Chop it off...

10. On a bad day in Iraq and
then there's the Letterman/CNN/WH thingy, and earlier I heard ole Slade Gorton say that there was no perjury in Richard Clarke's testimony, only differences of opinion. And they showed a tiny scrap of the WH press briefing, and I heard a reporter ask something about does the WH think it's okay for them to have IRS do a critique of John Kerry's tax proposal at tax payers expense. All this I'd hoped to hear more about on Inside Politics. So what do see and hear? A dog and some cops running around looking for a suspect. I'm glad the girl is found and safe, and will be glad to hear WHEN they catch the man. But spending all afternoon rambling on and on about it? Sheesh!

13. News Flash.......... They are not news stations...
Edited on Wed Mar-31-04 05:09 PM by SoCalDem
They are all pre-emptable opinion shows, whose sole purpose is to link commercials together..

Their favorite "stories" are the "cute white girls in danger" stories, and then the "cute dead girls", followed by car chases, any court proceeding where there might be some "juicy dirt"... "NEWS" is only occasionally important..

16. what's the big deal...?
Edited on Wed Mar-31-04 05:19 PM by Ysabel
I was at the grocery store just a few minutes ago here in madison and the store owner had the television on in his office...

a checker pops her head out of the office door and says to me:

"i wouldn't want to be that guy" and I say "hungh - what guy?" she says "that missing woman's boyfriend - they just said on the news that the missing woman was with her boyfriend" - then i just say "oh"...

i walk away - thinking to myself - so what's the big deal about all this...?

edit - typo...
