1. Without Davis on the ballot?
There's a Writ of Mandate before the CA Supremes right now asking that the recall effort be 1)held unconstitutional and vacated or 2) postponed till spring of 2004 too.

Assuming the Supremes do nothing and the Oct vote goes on, we'll prolly write Davis in, although we are looking close at Arianna.

And "We" = 4 votes

3. I don't know why not, but I am assuming...
A visit to the election code should sort it right out though. :)

sought to be recalled shall appear under each recall question.

6. i don't think I can say
well, i'm to your south, and a resident of California. But, I can't tell you who I'm going to vote for as last I recall, it's not permitted here, unless it's a democrat.

I will however be voting for a progressive that believes in getting big money out of the system, that doesn't take big corporate money, that is, among other things, in favor of universal health care, civil rights, education, women's rights, and people's rights.

8. it's more of "what" are you voting
for. My sister just moved from California, otherwise I don't know that I would as concerned with this election...oh, but wait... there 53 electoral votes involved here, right..?

So wasy for all these "contenders" o Davis to just 'slip' this under the big ol' California breeze. Damn enron screwed California now a recall. Davis DOES need to get a backbone and defend his honor.

There is legal reason for this recall and the repugs know it.

Davis stand up to them!!!!!!!

10. I will vote for the recall...
...for three reasons: 1) Davis is a Republicrat; 2) Davis is spineless, see "Enron" and "deregulation"; 3) There's a great opportunity to elect a Green or a liberal Independent to the governorship.

On the replacement, I'll vote for Camejo or Arianna, depending on who has a better chance of winning.

16. Yeah...right
"There's a great opportunity to elect a Green or a liberal Independent to the governorship."

You guys couldn't get a Green (Camejo) elected fair and square in the gubernatorial election. In my book you're no better that the opportunistic GOP who ALSO didn't get elected by the people of California but want to slip into power on a technicality.

A pox on both your houses.

17. It's not "you guys"
First, I didn't vote in 2002 because I wasn't eligible then. Second, I would've voted for Davis because there was a close Davis/Simon race; now, if Camejo has a reasonable chance to be in a close race for first place, I'll vote for him. Third, I don't see how a recall/replacement election is not "fair and square."

11. NO on Recall and a vote for Bustamante
We had an election. Unlike the lying cokehead AWOL Deserting thief in the Oval Office, Davis WON his election fair and square.

Make no mistake about it, the GOP has shown that they will do ANYTHING to eliminate Democrats and get away with it. AND the good puppy press lies for these bastards time and time again. 99% of the American Media is now in the GOP's pocket, run by full-blown Presstitutes who make Goebbels and TASS look like a third-rate operation. The only media not under corporate control are the Pacifica stations.

Remember the old Outer Limits TV show? It opened by saying "There is nothing wrong with your televison set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission"

Wonder what the late Leslie Stevens (who wrote those lines) would say if he were still alive. I am afraid he would shake his head and weep for what has become of America.

Since Steroid Boy announced his candidacy, all the local channels in Los Angeles outwhored each other to see who could kiss Mr Nazi's ass the most.

God help us. When it comes to television, the GOP controls the horizontal. They control the vertical. They blur the image, make it flutter, or sharpen it to crystal clarity. They manipulate ALL that you see and hear. They have to be stopped.

Which is why I will vote NO on the recall and I will vote for Mr Bustamante.

AND

If Karl Rove has had the machines fixed, and Mr. Meathead is elected, The second he takes office, I will take out recall papers on that damnable Nazi.

I just came across DU last week. Thank you for being here and allowing me my soon-to-be eliminated right to free speech. Dear God, I never thought I would see the day when the Nazis came back into power. This is 1936 all over again!

13. No on the recall
and I'm not sure for the replacement. Someone please fill me in about Bustamante running. This is news to me.

I like Arianna a lot, but I'm going to vote for the strongest Democrat or Indy candidate. I'm leaning towards Arianna, but if the LT. Gov is running, I'll probably vote for him.

Edited on Thu Aug-07-03 11:24 AM by SoCalDem
The thing that "chaps my hide" is that Cruz should not HAVE to run.. He should be the one who would automatically be governor if Davis gets recalled.. WE ELECTED BUSTAMANTE ALREADY to be governor if Davis could not complete his term..

Would we get a "do over" for president if Chimpy got impeached?? NO..We would get Snarl in his place..

This whole recall is lunacy at the highest level.. Just what a state with no money needs..:eyes: an impromptu fiasco of an election that will cost us 70 million or more, to do WHAT???? To remove a second term governor who we ELECTED 8 months ago.. What is different now, from 8 months ago??? NOTHING.. We are just as enroned now as we were then...

This is a power grab by the Crawford Cabal.. They WANT California and they WANT IT BAAAAAAAAD... They will stop at nothing to demoralize dems here and take over power..

2004 is an election year and we smacked * upside the head in 2000.. He holds grudges forever, and probably is wetting himself now as he imagines his triumphant return to Calif and the pomp and circumstance when he stays at the governor's mansion..

California is for sale to the highest bidder... Actually America is for sale to the highest bidder.. Heaven help us !

23. The ballot isn't complete yet
Just like every other election. I will consider the entire field of candidates and vote for whomever best represents my views.
Since the field of candidates hasn't been determined it is difficult to say. I can safely rule out Arnold and Gary Coleman however.

I will probably vote for recalling Davis. I don't think he has the right stuff to be the #1 guy.
