I Understand The Reason For This New Rule, BUT...
I am finding it is extremely frustrating to try to respond to a new post. Unfortunately, I find I have to edit every new post before I respond, asking myself these questions:

Does it have 5 sentences?
Are those sentences appropriate and topical?
Are there any swear words?
Am I forgetting a rule?
Am I wasting my time just jumping in, only to find that my three paragraph response won't post because the thread was locked?

I do not want to be an editor. I want a free, quick exchange of ideas, with a flow similar to a conversation.

I know I the rules are supposed to be temporary, but I see this as sort of a trial run. If it works for the mnmgnt, who can say what will happen. So I'm voicing my frustration now, in my own rule compliant thread, before the temporary becomes permanent.

3. True, but the new thread rules create a set of de facto rules

for those who wish to respond.

I don't want to waste my time writing a thought out response to a new thread, just tofind my efforts thwarted because the poster said damn! or only used for legitinmate sentences.

It has happened three times this morning, and now my left eye is starting to twitch :-)

4. But I don't think this will be a problem in the long term.

Once people get used to the rules, then violations will become much less frequent. Once people are familiar with the rules, we won't need to lock as many threads because people will make sure that their thread complies before they post it.

5. Unbelievable!
That this thread was locked by a moderator in response #2!!!

ARRGHH! (Long, anguished scream of rage and despair!)

Thank you, whoever you were, for rethinking that plan, and unlocking the thread.

I was seriously about to blow a blood vessel in my forehead!

6. Some "underground"
Last time I checked, "underground" implied a blatant and willful disregard for rules.

I'm not complaining or criticizing, mind you, just pointing out the obvious. The admins and mods I'm sure do a lot of work around here and I thank them for their efforts.

All these rules, new or otherwise, is makin' it feel downright Republican around here!

7. So the new rules will be enforced over the long term?
Or do they expire saturday night?

I would lose the five sentence rule. Good points can be made in few words.

10. By long-term I mean sometime later in the experiment.
The rules will expire Saturday night, just as I said they would.
