I don't agree with this tactic, or the impeach bush stuff. Republicans are the sleazeballs trying to subvert democracy and the 1st ammendment. They are tying their own noose. This is plain. Let their actions and lack of forethought speak for themselves next election. Democrats need not stoop to the level of republicans (whale shit).

At my work, we are listening to Democracy Now, as I type.
This afternoon, we will be listening to Limbaugh and probably Hannity.
At night, when I get the chance, I listen to Colmes.

Actually, Colmes is pretty tame.

But aside from using "black" voices when he mimicks someone, I don't know what else you could classify as "hate" unless you could also say that Amy Goodman incites hate in her listeners by pointing out the things that mainstream radio isn't telling you. Limbaugh inspires the exact same type of hate in the things he points out. It just depends on the perspective of the listener. and that type of hate is totally different than what, I believe, people are using to describe "hate" in this context.

I can't find Pacifica anywhere in Kansas City anymore, and I miss that. But I've llistened to Limbaugh for years. Democracy Now for quite a few years too. I love being in the liddle of the maelstrom.
It gives me perspective.

I'll admit that O'Rielly is just a boob. And Weiner is very "confused" in his own head. But I'm not so sure I'd even classify him as "hate". People can call the shrub all types of things, and it's considered ok. Moore can do his thing and it's not considered "hate". Dixie Chicks can do thir thing....etc.
Perhaps I can see concede the Weiner AIDS thing. But still not to the degree of what "hate" should be considered. IMO.

They're building two new stores, including one a few miles from my home in Pueblo West. And I won't be shopping in either one as long as they advertise on Hannity's pukefest.

I see these threads every day. I keep asking but nobody will tell me if these boycotts are having any effect. Is it a waste of time or is it really working? Does anybody know the answer? I don't mind doing things IF they work . . . IF they have a positive impact. But, for example, I use Petsmart at least twice a month, and my cellphone provider is Nextel (due to the walkie-talkie feature). Why should I boycott them if it's not gonna do any real good? I don't care about "feeling good" about something . . . I live in a practical world. If the boycott will take Hannity off the air, then I'm for it. If it won't take him off the air, then I'm not interested.

I was pleased to learn that you were expanding to the Pueblo, CO area. And that one of your new stores would be very close to my home. But since you have started advertising on Sean Hannity's radio program, I will not set foot in either one of your stores. I cannot support any company that supports hate-filled propaganda radio.

Companies want to make money. If they see a market, they advertise there. Not often will you find a company that takes into account the venue, unless it is someone like Weiner.
When a message is sent talking about hate-filled, and propoganda, it is seen as some sort of psycho fringe. If it is seen at all.
Words like beliefs, sensibilites, many americans, divisive, etc carry much more weight than puke, hate, propoganda, etc.

Why would a company that wants to make money want to cater to what is perceived as the angry fringe?

My guess is that the Hannity audience is primarily middle-aged, white, surburban, educated, and affluent. That is probably a demographic that will spend a lot of money at an Eckards drug store. The Eckards people are probably willing to trade out a few angry fringe members in order to attract a typical Hannity listener.

When they see words along the lines of hate and propoganda, they see what they believe is a person who will buy some asprin every now and again. Or even someone who is just as likely to shoplift as they are to purchase.

I just think that advertisers love the demographics of the typical "hate radio" listener.

I would just think that sending something like that particular note, shown above, does nothing more than make the sender feel better.

Since Hannity airs in the middle of the day, it's mainly stay-at-home soccer moms listening at that time. Those people will shop where it is most convenient for them . . . it is not a political decision at all.

I'm almost numb from seeing so many people on both sides that seem to get great satisfaction from this type of thing. If you can effect a change, great. There are ways to make things happen.
But the "symbolic" crap has always amused me.
Such as, how many people, a year ago would have viewed the Dixie Chicks as as some sort of country, white bread, middle America joke?
Honestly now. Now, they are symbolic heroes to many people who would have never cared before.
