7. Why the NRA?
Why did you choose them? Is John Dingell evil for being a member?

3. Idealism: Isn't that CUTE
Don't get me wrong I really admire that, but it's not workable in the real world.

I'll spare you the long story of Wilson's, FDR's, Truman's, JFK's and LBJ's use of agencies to monitor opponents.

15. wish you were right
Actually both parties have some shameful episodes of using the power of gov't to harass political opposition. That is why I don't trust anyone.

8. That would be illegal!
If a Democrat did that, I would wholeheartedly support his impeachment and conviction.

This is not Nixon's party.

10. Careful what you wish for....

This was one of the things that Clinton was accused of (although I wonder about the veracity of that claim)

Yeah I agree, this should never be done (although i suspect its done by both sides :( )

9. Liberals have other methods...
Like RICO, like fraud, no need to use the IRS...

I would probably turn the PATRIOT act on its supporters and see how Ashcroft likes being indefinately detained for being associated with Xtian fundie terrorists. But that won't happen because its an illegal law and should be overturned.

I do think we can get a few treason and war crimes convictions on Neo Cons and their backers. I think that some large donors to the Rethug party would be in line for SEC compliance checks on wall street (gotta restore faith in wall street), or for increasingly tough labor law enforcement. There is no need to punish or enemies, just find where they violated what law.

16. Why wait until 2005?
You can issue a complaint to the IRS anytime. You just need enough documentation to start an investigation.

17. Richard Perle, Grover Norquist and Henry Kissinger
all with too much sway on the inside... but are living LARGE on the outside. Such an audit would dig up all sorts of interesting stuff.
