4. He did well, entirely on the defensive
You could see and hear the dissapointment in Judy that she couldn't get her mudslinging to stick at all. After Howard trumpeted the 75k meetup members for tonight she slung every negative comment made about Dean in the last week for him to defend.

He did well but he seems tired.

7. Yeah, Judy kept on making these little "huff" noises
when Dean came right back at her.

5. I am embarassed to admit this, but...
this was actually the first time I have ever heard him speak on tv. I have visited his web site many times, and read a lot about him, but I somehow kept missing his tv appearances (I don't watch much tv).

I was impressed. Judy kept on the attack. She asked him about Lieberman's comment about "leading democrats in to the wilderness". She also quoted a poll that said 2/3 of Americans thought the war was "worth fighting". Then she went to the comment about Mario Cuomo wanting Gore back in the race.

Dean handled her pretty well. I agree that he looked a little tired, but I guess that is to be expected.

I remain undecided, but I liked what I saw in Dean today.

6. Judy seemed a tad contemptuous. She should ply her trade at Fox.
She would find her bias more appreciated there.

8. I'm still wondering what all the Dean hype is about
Honestly, I've seen this guy speak several times now, and I don't see what his personal appeal is. Some compare Dean to McCain, but I think McCain is a much better personality as far as a straight talkin Harry Truman type. I consider people like Bill Clinton and Tony Blair to be charismatic and engaging all around speakers. Someone like Kerry speaks with seriousness and purpose of a statesman, the way I would imagine Abe Lincoln delivering a speech. Even Lieberman has a grandfatherly, honest way about him that is appealing, even if he is a Republican whore.

9. He's a fighter. He's not afraid to take on Bush on Bush's supposed strong.
issues. He's connected to his supporters. He listens to them.

He says reasonable things and tries to LEAD people to see things his way, rather than just tell them what the latest polls says they want to hear.

10. I thought Dean totally kicked ass today!
He talked about all the lies the Bushies* told us to get us into this war. Don't harp on Judy, she's just repeating what's being slung at Dean and giving him a chance to respond--that's what we need! And Dean did awesome--and got a few shots in himself!
