I think our underground website is monitored by tv anchors.
Nothing wrong with that but I just heard one of the anchors on MSNBC (don't know his name) reporting about the Dem debate last night and mentioned to the guest an exchange years ago by Dole and Bush, the one where Bush wished Dole luck on the election and Dole shouted back "yeah, stop lying about my record!".

I read the same thing by a DUer last night. Is it me or is this a coincidence to mention this exchange?

1. you think so?
maybe they are.

But it sure looks like the Repugs are monitoring The Onion to get their snazzy new "policy ideas".

2. If they are smart they monitor several...
We "are" the pulse of america.. I mean ALL the people online.. There are opinions galore online, and it's cheaper for the media to just monitor websites, than to send a reporter out and gather soundbytes..They have to get permission and when people are face to face with another human, they "temper their words"...

Here and other places like this, they can get the real thing...no holds barred..

It's just too bad that they do not pick up on some of the more important things that get discussed here :(

3. oh without a doubt
I used to frequent another political Web site where at least one of the writers for a prominent weekly newsmagazine was online all the time, posting! And not only that, she had no qualms about the fact that she was supposed to be working! She eventually got fired and rightly so. I do have to hand it to her, though, she did know her stuff on foreign policy and came up with some very interesting posts. She was a r-w nut, though.

4. A post I made on the debt made it on TV next day.
I DU posted the hyperlinks to the government debt page, gave the dates, and the next day one of our local TV stations reported on the surging debt reaching $800 billion increase over the Clinton reduction of debt.

Could have been a coincidence. But, a good one.

5. and.. you cannot rule out the cost-cutting that is rampant
.. I would venture a guess that lots of "news" departments have few, if any , actual researchers..

It's kind of snotty really...we do the "leg-work" by unearthing all lthe delicious facts and then they scoop them up and twist them , often against us :(

That's what freaks me out.. Like the threads galore about voting.. We have been "on" this story since January 2001, and only NOW are they picking it up and even now they are portraying it as "a homework assignment" or "no proof that anything really was affected"..HA !!

My wish would be that if they actually monitor us, they take the time to read through all the research and report it matter of factly.. If the would only do that, things would change in a hurry..

6. Staffers
as well as Senate and House and candidate staffers. DU offers a particular range
of progessive opinions they like to keep the pulse of . . . but sometimes they
actually learn something . . . like how to question the administration on an issue,
etc.

7. I think they probably have people........
to do that for them. I do think Bill Press visits frequently.....and takes it to heart.

I quit cable news many months ago so I couldn't say what they do now.
