One good argument for gay marriage.....
Even though many companies offer "domestic partner" coverage, it's a pain in the ass to take actually take advantage of the offer in a lot of cases.

If I were married to my partner of 13 years, this would not be nearly as much of a hassle.

2. Tongue firmly in cheek, I remind nuts that gays are unlikely to
reproduce.

(Barring artificial insemination between two lesbians).

3. Taxes, social security...
Domestic partner benefits are federally taxable. Time for "equal pay for equal work."

4. Simplicity
This has always been my main argument in favor of gay marriages. Fairness and keeping the government out of the bedroom are givens to me, but simplicity is overlooked.

I can remember discussing this issue at length in my family law class years ago and domestic partner coverage and state-by-state civil unions are too complex. I could go into detail, but the number of laws in dozens of areas that would have to be changed would be overwhelming. My head starts to spin just thinking about it... On the other hand, we have a system already in place for marriage. Extending marriage rights to people of the same sex would be from a legal perspective the only reasonable thing to do.

Hopefully, you and your partner will be able to marry someday soon. (And, you can stop using 'partner' which sounds like you run a business together and have a 'spouse')

5. LOL....I agree.
Partner is short for "lifepartner" for me. Spouse would be the preferred term, but until we can legally get married, too many people make assumptions about the word "spouse".
