Elections in India/Elections in California

Isn't it true that in India there are 3,000 or more political parties? And that when they get the ballot it's extremely long?

I just ask because part of me likes the idea of 200 candidates running. No one can say that the voters of California won't have a choice. It is Democracy at its best in a way even though I wish we weren't having this election.

I am skeptical about the numbers especially on national elections but it is a huge country(second largest) with federal-state form of government.

Did you happen to catch the news that they were going all electronic during the next election to expedite the process?
