Question about recall re: resignation.
If Davis were to resign, and hand over the government to his Lt. Governor, would the recall vote still go forward, or would it be, in effect, over?

I believe that if it would stop the recall election, that Davis should resign. I find it very unlikely that he will win it, esp. with Arnold in the race. Plus, it will save the CA government money.

Now is not the time to stand on principle. Having a Republican in the CA Governor's mansion could be a disaster not just for CA, but for the whole country.

1. Great idea, if feasible
If Davis quits, who is there to recall? Bustamante would be Governor. I think we need a lawyer on this one.

3. It doesn't work that way ....
Davis would have had to resign before the recall was certified. If Davis resigns now, Bustamante will be governor untill the recall. Then, the winner of the recall would become governor.

What really hacks me up about this (among many many other things about it), is now CA Dems have to expend resources and money to keep or elect a Dem to the governor's office, money and resources which would normally be going to get duhbya voted out of office.

4. Thanks for that answer!
The answer really sucks, though. :-( (Not your fault, obviously.)
