1. He bought a ton of spam lists
But it doesn't matter, he's toast:

Support for other leading candidates has moved in the opposite direction. Lieberman's percentage of the vote has dropped from 22% in April to his current 18%, and Kerry has gone from a high point of 18% in April to 12% now. Gephardt's support levels have held, and his current 15% is just one point different from the 16% he obtained in April.

Dean is the man with the real supporters.

9. JF Kerry is the only electable candidate with a chance to win in 2004.
I love what Dean has done for the debate and I have even sent him a little $ for his efforts but I can't bring myself to join the millions of Republicans who are salivating over a Dean vs. Bush election cycle.

Kerry is the man and I hope at the end of the day, after a fair and honest primary, all Dems will fall behind the candidate. 2004 is far too important.

10. Dean is the candidate who is driving away respect from democrats
who don't support, most. Leiberman is doing it too, but he never really had all that much to begin with. I've been to Kerry events and I like Kerry even though he's no my first choice. Dean has gone from a candidate who was basically tied for my first choice to the candidate I have more contempt for than any other candidate

He'll regret his pomposity sooner or later

14. Then where are those Republicans and Independents coming from?
We have registered Republicans and independents who have never taken part in a campaign working locally for Dean - is that because they have lost respect for the party due to Dean?

I've heard things like "I've found a Democrat I like better than any Republican" come out of Republican mouths...if they work and vote for a Democrat now...they are likely to do it in the future.

18. Yeah, thats not hype or anything
Your claim is obviously unsubstantiated and any mainstream republican
support for Dean is either coming from those who see a candidate who will hand 4 more to Bush, or some unique red herring that for some reason is a republican that likes the most socially liberal, pro-tax increase, most dovish foriegn policy democrats from very liberal states

19. The only repubs who are not interested in a Dean/Bush race
are those who would like to see Sharpton/Bush.

22. Disinfo, Vis Numar....
You have to register with a password and other info. You don't get that from the DNC donor list.

What's with the rumor campaign?

2. it's interesting
that the "candidate that stands the best chance to win back the White House" is just now getting a clue about the internet and grassroots campaigning.

Call me biased but it seems a bit slow off the mark.

3. very interesting
at 11:15 kerry has 199,043 supporters signed up.
at 11:15 dean has 265,443 supporters signed up.

There are all kinds of ways to look at this, all dending on who you support.

Kerry has a national network, and everybody who supported him in his runs for Sentate. He bought mailing lists (so says another poster on this thread.)

It will be interesting to see how his supporters end up supporting him.

I hope each candidate (and a few of the others) end up with at least 1,000,000 by the time the primaries roll around, and once we have chosen a candidate, all 5,000,000 of us get behind him.

Imagine 5,000,000 kerry, dean, graham, gore, clark, gephardt, kucinich, braun, sharpton supporters each donating $50 dollars to the DNC the day before the convention. There goes bush's 250 million dollar war chest!

Of course, if you want to commit to that goal, you can sign the pledge in my sig line.

8. reading your post
Edited on Fri Aug-08-03 02:48 PM by NewYorkerfromMass
was like listening to "Alice's Restaurant" ....it'll become a movement! :)

For the uninitiated:

"...And the only reason I'm singing you this song now is cause you may know somebody in a similar situation, or you may be in a similar situation, and if your in a situation like that there's only one thing you can do and that's walk into the shrink wherever you are , just walk in say "Shrink, You can get anything you want, at Alice's restaurant.". And walk out. You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and they won't take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they're both faggots and they won't take either of them. And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. They may think it's an organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I said fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement.

And that's what it is , the Alice's Restaurant Anti-Massacre Movement..."

but I digress....

from the page:

"At 1:30 pm EST, Shanna W. of Chicago, Illinois became the 200,000th on-line John Kerry supporter! Thanks to all of you who helped us reach our goal, and get your friends and family involved so we can reach the next goal of 250,000 on-line supporters ready to give George W. Bush a permanent vacation!"

11. Great News! Thanks NewYorkerfromMass!
Thanks for posting that the goal had been reached well before midnight--a running count of the total would be fun for the campaign to put on the website.

Regime change in '04! John Kerry for President!

13. they need to redesign the whole website
(says this designer) and actually I heard they are doing that to coincide with his Fall campaign speech. The blue pinstripes are nice but they take way too long to load. Lots of other problems with that website...
