Administration Lie of the Day
Bechtel Ends Move for Work in Iraq, Seeing a Done Deal

http://nytimes.com/2003/08/08/business/08REBU.html

"Halliburton's role in the rebuilding (of Iraq) has been under political scrutiny because the company was formerly headed by Vice President Cheney. But the Bush administration and the Corps of Engineers, which is overseeing the Iraqi oil reconstruction effort, have repeatedly said that Halliburton has no inside track".

Sure. To the administration, saying something is so makes it so.

4. lying spin weasels!
the Bush administration...ha(s) repeatedly said that Halliburton has no inside track

Oh, that's just SO right. No inside "track".

They have an inside superhighway, with a pipeline from the US Treasury right into their pockets.

Corporate welfare queens.

5. There must be a better descriptor!!!
Edited on Fri Aug-08-03 02:44 PM by Tandalayo_Scheisskop
Use of the word "Queens" is a slur against certain hard-working members of royalty and vastly entertaining and humorous members of the GLBT communities around the world. That is unacceptable.

No, we have to come up with a much better descriptor. "Parasites", while more accurate, would lump in beneficial parasites like our intestinal flora. No, we must focus the brainpower of DU on this matter, post haste and forthwith, with the greatest speed and alacrity! We cannot lump in good folks and bacteria with these vermin!

;-)
