Must Read: the newly revised White House Bush biography
Edited on Fri Apr-30-04 10:00 PM by TruthIsAll
George W. Bush is the 43rd President of the United States. He was sworn into office January 20, 2001, after a campaign in which he stole the election with the help of his brother Jeb and the Supreme Court and in which he outlined sweeping proposals to reform America's public schools, transform our national defense, provide tax relief, modernize Social Security and Medicare, and encourage faith-based and community organizations to work with government to help Americans in need. President Bush served for six years as the 46th Governor of the State of Texas, where he earned a reputation as a compassionate conservative who shaped public policy based on the principles of limited government, personal responsibility, strong families, and local control. He executed over 150 prisoners, spending no more than 15 minutes reviewing any case. Under his leadership, Texas placed last of all the states in pollution standards.

President Bush was born on July 6, 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut, and he grew up in Midland and Houston, Texas. As a child, he spent many hours blowing up frogs with firecrackers. He received a bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1968 (he was a C-student), then served as an F-102 fighter pilot in the Texas Air National Guard, having achieved the 25% minimum pilot exam grade, and passing over 150 better qualified applicants. He was absent for the last eight months of National Guard duty, and has never explained why. President Bush received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1975, also graduating with a C-average. His former professors remember him as a lazy, arrogant student, who called the FDR administration an example of pure socialism, only concerned with helping the unfortunate. After graduating, he moved back to Midland and began a career in the energy business. He proceeded to fail in this business venture, in which he was a partner with Bin Laden's brother. After working on his father's successful 1988 presidential campaign with Karl Rove smearing Dukakis, he assembled the group of partners that purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989. He used taxpayer funds to finance the purchase.

He served as managing general partner of the Texas Rangers, traded Sammy Sosa, until he was elected Governor on November 8, 1994, with 53.5 percent of the vote, with the help of Ken Lay at Enron. He became the first Governor in Texas history to be elected to consecutive four-year terms when he was re-elected on November 3, 1998, with 68.6 percent of the vote.

Since taking office, President Bush has signed into law bold initiatives to improve public schools by raising standards, leaving no child behind, requiring accountability, and strengthening local control by fundamentalist Christians. He has signed tax relief that provided rebate checks and lower tax rates for everyone who pays income taxes in America, with the vast bulk of tax-savings going to the top 1%, and $300 rebates for everyone else, which has only served to hasten the disappearance of the middle class. He has increased pay and benefits for America's military, yet for some reason they are complaining of loss of income, insufficient supplies, and having to pay their own travel expenses on leave. He is working to save and strengthen Social Security and Medicare as a historical relic, while moving ahead to bankrupt the system. He is also committed to ushering in a responsibility era in America, in which corporate polluters, warmongers and business cronies are rewarded and has called on all Americans to be citizens, not spectators; citizens, not subjects; in which three million jobs were lost; in which a record surplus was turned into a record deficit; in which responsible citizens building communities of service were targeted by the Patriot Act; and a Nation of character, which defied the United Nations in going to war; while he was asleep at the wheel on 9/11, lying about WMD to get us into a pre-emptive war with Iraq, outing a CIA agent whose husband, the esteemed Ambassador Joseph Wilson, had the temerity of telling the truth that President Bush was lying when he sought to blame Saddam Hussein for negotiating with Niger in Africa for a yellow-cake uranium purchase.

The attacks of September 11th changed America - and in President Bush's words, "in our grief and anger we have found our mission and our moment. I hit the Trifecta" He has used this event as a political opportunity in which to force his radical agenda upon America. President Bush declared war against terror and human rights and has made victory in his re-selection effort the prime focus, using the bogus war on terrorism as a vehicle to advance dictatorial policies by curtailing our Constitutional freedoms in order to pursue the the priorities of his Administration. Already, the United States military and a great coalition of nations have liberated the people of Afghanistan from the brutal Taliban regime, only to see it return to power, and denied al Qaeda its safe haven of operations, only to see it grow in magnitude and purpose. Thousands of terrorists have been captured or killed and operations have been disrupted in many countries around the world, yet many more are being spawned by a policy in which he assumes messianic goals based on the word of God told to Bush. In the President's words, "our Nation - this generation - will lift a dark threat of violence from our people and our future. We will rally the world to this cause by our efforts, by our courage. We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail. A dictatorship would be better, as long as I am the dictator. There should be limits to freedom. Who cares what you think. There must be a consequence. I listen to my spiritual father, not my real one".

President Bush is married to Laura Welch Bush, a former teacher and librarian, and they have twin daughters, Barbara and Jenna. The Bush family also includes their two dogs, Spot and Barney, and a cat, India.
