E.J. Dionne on Dobbs talking about Kerry's speech....
a bit different....should give up some political control to get some aid.

Says it's difficult to do much if you have no control over what's going on on the ground

Dobbs clearly bummed by Bush and Fallujah...Dionne said that Bush's problem is that he's getting hit from the left and the right...
Fallujah , we faced a terrible choice...so troops pulled back...

Talking about Odom and others talking about pulling out or Iraq...Dionne suprised by how many establishment figures are talking about withdrawal or "can we lower our sights enough so we can get out with our dignity and honor intact." (my comment: is all this talk a way to soften up Americans for cut and run????? in other words, aimed at helping Bush?)

Bush...should worry after spending all that money...he's either slightly ahead or just behind.....

Kerry, should feel good about hanging in, but given the way the public has turned, he should worry that he's not ahead.

1. good gist-- thanks! eom
Kerry doesn't have anything to worry about, he isn't getting any air time yet. His speech today on Iraq was very good.

2. Bush's strength is his "resolve." He has painted himself in a corner
now. If he pulls out, he cannot portray himself as a strong leader.

6. Oh yes he can.
He can say it was a STRONG reversal. A DECISIVE flip-flop. That's real leadership for ya!

5. Interesting interview.
Dion actually compared Iraq with Vietnam and said the admin. needs to lower the bar and see if they can hand this off to someone and back out with some dignity.

I don't remember him being anti Bush, so does this actually mean the rational talking heads are seeing disaster?
