The Thomas Hamill (Halliburton truck driver) story is very fishy!
So he escaped and he's ready to get back to work...er...OK

Me's-Thinks that Halliburton paid a pretty sizable ransom to the Iraqi's to get him back...MHOP... How does a white guy get away from his captures and then walk around near Tikrit?

It seems that every feel good story that comes out of Iraq is usually Bullshit, hence my skepticism!

1. Completely agree. Even the glowing news reports admitted US not
sure whether he escaped or was allowed to leave.

But the story, JUST in time for the morning news, did knock the torture story from the top of the news.

Bought and paid for.

2. This story smells worse than a sun-baked, maggot infested
herring. We'll soon learn the spin.

3. How do we know he escaped?
Couldn't they have simply released him?

4. It does sound fishy. And I agree with the assumption that
Halliburton did a pay off.

5. If Halliburton is involved in ANYTHING there's a cover up!
There is NO truth where these lying bastards are involved.

6. Halliburton is using its dead and captured in Iraq to shield itself
from negative press. They are going to push this escapee story hard hoping public opinion against the company softens.

It is all a PR campaign in Halliburton's eyes.

8. He "showed up" 100 miles from where he was "taken."

How did he get to coalition forces 100 miles away?

1. His captors were able to transport him around the country without being detected and just decided not to guard him well enough.

2. He was delivered after a handsome ransom was paid.

hhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Think I'll take door #1!

Edited to turn off sarcasm.

9. Part Of The Falujah Deal?
Let's check some timing here. Yep, Trumad, I'm with you and others that the ransom was paid by Halliburton and he was probably dumped on some roadside. But also that the price was settled on as part of the deal to turn Falujah over to former Baathists? If that's the case, we've got lots of other problems to deal with.

10. Our tax dollars at work
paying ransoms. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the poor man is free; but good ole Halliburton paid up for it. I only hope they can pay to get the PFC that was taken as well.

13. Please don't say that.
One ransom encourages ten thousand kidnappings.

12. It is fishy.
I don't know if Halliburton paid the ransom (do they care that much about an employee?), but it is also possible that his captors got tired of feeding him.

So they let him "escape".
