1. He's a good soldier, which means he will lie if ordered too.

3. George Stephanopolis had him on - He said he hadn't even read

the report cited by the New Yorker. Even George Will went after him. He doesn't even try to portray himself as the head man in uniform, just occupying space and drawing a paycheck.

he is coming up on Face the Nation in my area.

4. On Face The Nation now (CDT)
Report on deplorable conditions in this prison came out last February, commanding general was sacked because of it, and Meyers hasn't SEEN it yet?
"Hasn't worked its way up the chain of command yet" or some such.

Words fail me.
OK, not quite:
Gross dereliction of duty.

This guy puts Fred Astaire to shame.
A tap-dancin' FOOL!

6. is it good to have the military, i.e., the brass, on spin shows?
this thread made me wonder ...

I can't recall if military were frequent quests on news programs during Vietnam or before ... since they follow orders, and will say what those orders require ... what's the point?

Or did this all start with Poppy's Rendon Group/Hill & Knowlton all-PR'd Desert Shield/Storm?

or does it matter?

do they get paid for appearances?
