I heard from Mari333
Edited on Sun May-02-04 12:27 PM by nostamj
I know lots of people (myself included) have been concerned that they have not seen any postings from her in a while.

of course, the news about the prison (where Michael is stationed) has made a difficult situation much worse.

NOTE: Michael was not there when these abuses took place.

but, they are ALL fine, all things considered. Mari is reading but not posting right now.

on edit: I am leaving soon for a performance and will not be able to respond to this thread until late in the afternoon.

31. I think of Mari
every passing day..I know she's a fantastic lady who is scared stiff for her stepson, and who wouldn't be. Mari's husband cries everyday. What's going to happen if these two people have a stroke over this! All that we hear is bad news. It's so traumatic and what's being done is abuse, and also psychological abuse to every family who's son/daughter is there, who really don't want to be there. I remember Mari posting something to the effet about going to see a psychologist, and yes, I feel she should send the bill to those as she said in one post who have OIL as their main interest in DC, How much can these families take!

Since the news and pix of the caskets in the news, these pukes are still lying out their a$$es. Do I think someone deliberately let those pix out for the public to see--yes! Someone is sending a message and the people need to act on this before the pukes commit more devastation to innocents. They do NOT care a bit about the people. Oil, $$, and greed is their god! SHAME!!

BTW, wasn't there some bill that was added that the administration could not be sued by anyone for this war?

7. but he is...
Edited on Sun May-02-04 12:42 PM by nostamj
he's still at the prison and 100s of Iraqis have been protesting there. (there's a GD thread on this http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x1513231">here)

it's terribly volitile. and Mari and her husband are understandably frightened and stressed by these developments.

have 4 care packages that I hope to have packed up to go within the next day or 2. Are we going to overwhelm Michael's unit? Can he spread the wealth?

23. Yes, I firmly believe that Michael can spread the good will.
Anarchy1999 is back. Offline for 16+ hours. Okay. To everyone here that has cared and wants to do something to help........

Everything you are doing is great, this is looking as though it should be a sustained effort. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to be successful in supporting our troops in a positive manner are encouraged.. There are many that want to reach out to our soldiers and god knows, they need our care. Can you imagine a postcard, a handwritten note, with just one package of beef jerkey making an impact? How wonderful is that?

Our enlisted need to hear from all of us. It is plain and simple. Keep in touch. PM me tonight and give me an e-mail, I'll keep everyone posted.

Sherry

34. thinking of you, Mari ...
I keep remembering how some of the soldiers spoke up against what they felt was wrong. I am absolutely certain that your Michael is the type of person who would have done the right thing, were he in a similar situation. (The world would have collapsed in a big heap centuries ago if it weren't for people like that.)
