An Open letter to my Congresswoman
To The Honorable Linda T. Sanchez
Hello Ms. Sanchez
I have been busy at work so I have not wrote for a while but the news events have been very busy lately and I'm checking to see how you have done on things I have wrote to you in the past about. First off I hope you caught the Sec of State Shelly's news conference last Friday concerning the decertification of Diebold voting machines in California and the referral to the State Attorney Generals office for criminal complaint against that company in Lying about the software on their machines used in last march's primary. Here is my letter to him prior to the press conference

"The Honorable Secretary Shelley
Dear Sir
I spent twenty years of service in the US Army defending our democracy and the right to vote for our leaders. Now we have voting machines that do not give out a printed ballot showing how I voted. How can you go back and do a recount if the software is faulty or has been rigged by a hacker trying to subvert this process? I hereby request that you decertify all paperless voting machines and show the nation this state is still the one to lead the way in protecting the citizens rights. When I go to the bank and use the ATM I get a receipt that shows what I did how much I withdrew or deposited as I understand it these machines are made by the same company that makes paperless voting machines. Why can't they print out the ballot for recount purpose? When I lived in Hawaii they used an optical scan machine that printed out your choices then it was scanned into the counter and the ballot was preserved for recount purposes. I do not take the voting process lightly as I put my life on the line in order to preserve this democracy and my oldest son spent six months in Iraq based on apparent lies from the present admin he will be going back shortly due to the incompetent leadership presently in the Bush administration this is not my idea of how to run a country and if it turns out that someone is tampering with the voting process it will lead to anarchy in our great nation. The ball is in your court please make the right decision and protect our sacred right to FREE and FAIR elections. Just to show you I'm for real here is where you will see a picture of my son doing his job last may in Iraq {snip} Thank you. Sincerely

As of this day you have yet to co-sponsor Mr Holts bill (HR 2239) to correct the flaws in the Help America Vote Act! I urge you to read what Mr Shelly had to say and stand up and defend or constitutional right to FREE & FAIR elections!

http://www.ss.ca.gov/executive/press_releases/2004/04_030.pdf

I must also say that after reading the interview with Amb. Wilson on MSNBC it appears in print now that the White House is playing politics with our FREE PRESS as you can read from the interview http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4880116
AMB. WILSON: Actually, I haven't asked Bob Novak to reveal his sources. And I think you can understand after you interviewed Mr. Woodward last week that when 75 people speak to Mr. Woodward with the authorization of the president and only two of them want to be identified, you can imagine that those who have other information but are fearful of what the White House might do, they also do not want to be identified. And I say that because, of course, I mention in the book that there are also reports from journalists back to me that they're fearful of writing these stories. One journalist said because he was afraid he would end up in Guantanamo, which is basically I think a metaphor for their being cut off. Another one said that, of course, they had two children in private schools and a mortgage. Now, I've since heard from other journalists that even the most mildly critical articles about this administration yield top-level phone calls back to their editors including phone calls from Mr. Libby himself to their editors.

That is not a free press, openly reporting about the abuses of this corrupt administration is tantamount to suicide in the journalistic world here in this nation I now have to resort to outside sources to get real news that has not been vetted by the White House! This is a travesty and insults all of our people in this nation that we can no longer trust the press to report uncensored or as Dan Rather put it after 9-11 if you go against the corporate line, One of America's foremost newscasters, Dan Rather of CBS, says the US media has stopped asking tough questions of the Bush administration since 11 September.

And he blames a climate of extraordinary patriotism.

In an interview with Newsnight, http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/archive/2029634.stm the CBS anchorman says that fear of offending the politicians "keeps journalists from asking the toughest of the tough questions" and adds: "I do not except myself from this criticism."

HOLT:
In an exclusive interview with Newsnight, Dan Rather lays into the people beyond the newsroom who are getting unprecedented access to make so-called "reality TV" like this.

RATHER:
For God's sake and for the sake of the war effort, let's not turn the war into entertainment.

CLIP - "CBS EVENING NEWS"
From CBS news headquarters in New York, here is Dan Rather.
RATHER:
Good evening, it is a sombre time for this country.

HOLT:
And Rather told us with the nation so stirred, it's become almost impossible to hold the Government to account.

RATHER:
(Anchor, CBS Evening News)
It's an obscene comparison but there was a time in South Africa when people would put flaming tyres around people's necks if they dissented. In some ways, the fear is that you will be neck-laced here, you will have a flaming tyre of lack of patriotism put around your neck. It's that fear that keeps journalists from asking the toughest of the tough questions and to continue to bore-in on the tough questions so often. Again, I'm humbled to say I do not except myself from this criticism.

HOLT:
While Rather speaks out, American television is developing a new kind of programme, based on a new kind of co-operation with the government. They call it "Militainment", entertainment TV about the military.

When will the Congress act to do it's constitutional duty of putting a check on this presidents administrations attack on the truth and an attack or basic liberties? The people I know are getting sick of the bush hijacking of our government and if from what I hear we get phony elections in Nov there will a major dissent against a government of the corporations and for the corporations that lie to us and use or military might for war profiteering and world domination!

One last thing I would ask you to look at this site and ask your self have we been deceived about the truth behind the attacks on 9-11? www.letsroll911.org If Hijackers can stop a plane in mid-flight to put a missile launcher on the fuselage then we have lost this war against terrorism or is it some thing much more sinister?

Thank you. Sincerely
