It seems like there's about an average of one new article a day on new technologies to faciliate the creation of a police state. I think this is quite possibly the most important trend going on in the world today - the effects are nearly inevitable like the development of electricity or the car. But most people at DU don't seem to care. For instance, I almost never see links to these kinds of stories at DU. They'd rather argue about Dean vs. Kerry and the like while this much more important long term development goes by virtually unnoticed.

It's not too late to stop the implementation of these dangerous technologies, but only if people pay attention.

5. Unfortunately, most people are so enamored of their new toys
that they throw privacy concerns right out the window. For every person that worries about privacy, there are 10,000 who think the camera that watches them will catch the guy who mugs them in broad daylight. And those devices to track what everyone buys and takes home? As long as it is unobtrusive, most people won't even know. Most people only reject things for three reasons: it is INCONVENIENT, it TAKES TOO MUCH TIME, or it is NOT IN STYLE. Not because it infringes on any freedoms.
