John O' Neill Tuesday 19 of 23 Kerry Officers "Unfit to be CIC"
Edited on Mon May-03-04 09:12 AM by rmpalmer
I don't like to report from Newsmax - but just heard this on Jerry Bowyer's show WPTT 1360 Pittsburgh(waiting for Lynn Cullen at 10). Just wanted to give all DU'ers a heads up that here comes the sh*t for this week.

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2004/5/3/92240.shtml

Hundreds of former commanders and military colleagues of presumptive Democrat nominee John Kerry are set to declare in a signed letter that he is "unfit to be commander in chief." They will do so at a press conference Tuesday in Washington.

"What is going to happen on Tuesday is an event that is really historical in dimension," John O'Neill, a Vietnam veteran who served in the Navy as a PCF (Patrol Craft Fast) boat commander, told CNSNews.com. The event, expected to draw about 25 of the letter-signers, is being organized by a newly formed group called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

"We have 19 of 23 officers who served with . We have every commanding officer he ever had in Vietnam. They all signed a letter that says he is unfit to be commander in chief," O'Neill said.

<snip>

"We are going to be presenting a letter that deals with Kerry's unfitness to be commander and chief that has been signed by hundreds of swift boat sailors, including most of those who served with Kerry," O'Neill explained.

"The ranks of the people signing range from admiral down to seaman, and they run across the entire spectrum of politics, specialties and political feelings about the Vietnam War," he added.

2. This should be interesting
We'll have to see how it plays out--but one suspects this is a bit of grandeloquence covering over an essential deception; he deosn't really have those signatures.

4. Where are Kerry's "band of brothers"?
In the primary he always had them with him and they stood up for him.

How in the world do they get "19 of 23" people who served with him?

I wonder if the media will be so critical of this Hibbard guys flip flops of giving him glowing reviews and then now 34 years later saying he's not fit.

I would also like to hear these guys account for what they think makes Bush fit to be commander in chief.

5. Unbelievable.
And what experience that Shrub had prior to 2000 indicated that he would be a "good" CIC? He couldn't even complete his National Guard duty, for shit's sake.

6. Shaa.
I can't wait. When it's discovered that virtually no one on O'Neill's list has ever served with Kerry or have been a member of his chain of command, I'll enjoy seeing this clown at the head of a Top Ten Idiots list very soon.

9. Kerry could make a kick ass commercial with all the clip from CSPAN
of campaign events where vietnam vets come up to him after the speech and tell him they served with him and that they're really excited about his campaign.

I remember one in IA where Kerry remembered the guy's name. The vet was shocked.

10. Wow. Their judgement supercedes mine.
I guess I can't vote for Kerry because Republicans think he's unfit.

What an indictment!

Who's next to sign such a letter? The Republican Governor's Association? Maybe the Military Contractors' Association?

11. Hundreds, huh?
"We are going to be presenting a letter that deals with Kerry's unfitness to be commander and chief that has been signed by hundreds of swift boat sailors, including most of those who served with Kerry," O'Neill explained.

I was in the Air Force for over three years, with some time spent in Turkey during Desert Storm. I suppose, technically, I served with hundreds of airman... of whom about 6 qualify to give an accurate description of my performance.

Does O'Neill think this crap really flies? We'll see on Tuesday... if the the spectacle even goes forward.

In the mean time, I'd like to see a press conference with hundreds of former Guardsmen testifying to just how outstanding our President's service was... OK, how about 5 Guardsmen... 1? I didn't think so.

:bounce:

20. O'Neill has been exposed as a long-time Bush supporter
and political hatchet man who has a bone to pick with Kerry. O'Neill tried to discredit Kerry back in the early 1970s after Kerry became prominent as an anti-war veteran.

14. Ok, Kerry has a heads up
He has to come out Tuesday with a rebuttal and surrounded by Vets who support him. The visual will supercede the letter.

16. Don't you think that if this were true they would have come out
when he was protesting in 1971? O'Neill is the scum of the earth, so he does not count (he was cooperating with Nixon directly at that time an works for a RW law firm that has ties with Bush*).
I THINK IT IS TIME FOR KERRY TO COME OUT SWINGING. These people are amazingly dirty. Will stop at nothing.

18. Backlash will create a great image
if Kerry handles it well.

They could get 3 times that number of vets in a photo-op to rebut this letter TOMORROW if they tried.

And they SHOULD.

Also, should check the bank accounts of those signing this "letter" and make sure the RNC doesn't bounce the checks.

21. If every commanding officer Kerry ever served with are signing that letter
Then some need to be court marshaled. Some of Kerry's commanding officers signed official documents giving Kerry high praise and said he was a superb leader. They are sworn to truthfulness by their oath of Commission. If they get caught lying they are subject to court marshal. If they sign this letter then they are either lying now or they lied in 1970.
