Something I noticed in the film of Hammill "captors"
They've been running it on CNN this morning...hooded guy holding the gun with Hammill in the back seat. Now, I admit, I am not a gun person, so maybe I am making too much of this, cynic that Bush has made me...but the captor is holding the gun the way the guy was in the Elian Gonzalez picture, with his trigger finger up on the side instead of on the trigger. Would this be "normal" for a "thug?" Or is he a well-trained "thug?"

1. unless you are intent
on firing the gun immediately, the place to put your finger is on the side, not on the trigger.

3. Yeah - I've only fired a gun a few times...but the triggers are...
pretty damn sensitive...hence the term "hair trigger"

It's takes precious little pressure to fire...

Not like the old cap guns...

2. SOP
Anybody who has been trained to hold a rifle properly holds it that way. That way if you trip and fall or are surprised, you won't discharge your weapon.

5. He didn't go back
he wandered around and was recaught, because he didn't know where to go.

6. And then his escaped his armed captors a second time?
Ridiculous. It's far more likely that he was released near where the US troops were. The escape story smells like a weapon of mass distration away from Bush's bad press since his attacks on Kerry are failing.

7. And then the captors hung around waiting for him to lead troops back

so they could be arrested/captured?

Yup, that sounds real plausible. Good lord, you know sometimes good things happen exactly the way they are reported without any exageration or embellishment.

The escape will be worth one or two days of good feelings max. Hell, The Washington Post buried the story about the escape as part of a larger story dealing with the 11 casualties.

12. It sounds as plausible as Hamill finding his way to his troops
WITHOUT his captors following him! Why is it not plausible that Hamill was taken to where he could reach his troops and left there?

10. I'm trying to understand what you think would be fabricated.
Four people died when Hamill was captured. One soldier is still missing?

Are you suggesting the entire capture was faked??

As another poster commented, sometimes things just happen.

As bad as this administration has been, lets try not to get paranoid about everything under the sun.
