"For the first time more people believe Australia should not have joined the US-led invasion of Iraq last year than those who support our participation, according to the latest Newspoll.
A total of 47 per cent backed Mark Latham's promise to bring troops home from Iraq by Christmas, with 45 per cent favouring the prime minister's proposal to leave them until the middle of next year, The Australian newspaper said.
According to the survey, taken last weekend, 50 per cent of Australians now believe it was not worth going to war, against 40 per cent who believe it was justified."
