The turnover rate is expected to be 27 percent. Normal turnover rate is approximately 20 percent.


In 2002 elections a total of 322 legislators in 11 states have been termed out. The percentage of legislators termed out ranges from 7 percent in Montana House to 45 percent in Missouri House and 71 percent in Michigan Senate.

This is a great site, breaking down the number of Dems in govenor rolls and in the legislator, comparing it to Repubs. I highlighted the section which discusses the number of legislative positions which will open up soon. I thought this might be helpful as to where we need to take the fight.
