CBS delayed report on Iraqi prison abuse after military chief's plea
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1209025,00.html

General Richard Myers called Dan Rather, the CBS anchor, eight days before the report was due to go on air, asking for time because it would inflame the situation in Falluja and could jeopardise hostages, Jeff Fager, executive producer of the US network's 60 Minutes II show told the Associated Press news agency. Last night the general confirmed that he had called.

4. "All americans should be beaten to death" ....
I am an american: should I be beaten to death ? ..

My three beautiful children are american: Should THEY be beaten to death too ? ..

Think about it ....

Is it proper and correct to punish torture and death with torture and death ? ... WHO is good and who is bad under this scenario ? ..

but that doesn't influence him at all.

Who would think it that?

"Rumsfeld has not read the internal Army report that spelled out abuses at one prison in Iraq. Air Force Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said on Sunday that he also had not read the report"

9. Right on!! You pointed out his OBVIOUS LIES.
why IS THE MEDIA NOT ON THIS?

And why can CBS decide to delay telling Americans the truth?

And what was the delay in reporting since these incidents were first known? WHO WAS HIDING THESE FACTS AND COVERING THEM UP?

12. It is common accepted procedure to not release info
that would potentially harm our troops. That's been in ALL foreign conflicts that I know of. If they witheld this info at the request of a US General, then I accept that.

The idea that this same General is lying about "not having read the report" is unexcusable! That just means he's playing CYA and he should be called on it NOW.

13. "Ummm...please delay your report. I haven't read my reports lately...
and I may not for months. I just hate to have the American public more informed than I am - looks bad, ya know what I mean?

TTFN - Gen. Myers"
