i frequent my local indymedia website dc.indymedia.org and last night we were watching lasts nights swill-fest. and we got a shout out. but they got everything wrong.
as soon as the exact transcript is up this letter is going to joey-boy:
"you briefly mention dcindymedia.org when discussing the tillman's death and ted rall's cartoon on monday, May 3rd's show. however there are several things wrong within that span of 20 or so seconds.
first off, you got the website wrong. its dc.indymedia.org not dcindymedia.org
second, you said it was a "Democratic" based website. this is not a "democratic," as is political party affliation, website. most posters and articles deal with corruption of both political parties and politics/government in general, and most would consider themselves anti-authoritarians, even *gasp* anarchists.
third, things posted on the newswire, as the original essay about tillman's death from which you quoted a reply from a wesley cook, was not necessarily a view support by dc.indymedia.org, as is posted on their website. we are democratic as in everyone can voice their opinion. however, just because its on the website, doesnt mean we endorse or support that view. however you credit the statement to dc.indymedia.org.
fourth, the wesley cook that you quote was being sarcastic and highly critical and dismissive of anti-authoritarians and the anti-authritarian views expressed on the dc.indymedia.org website.. he posts frequently to articles and commentary on the website and a bit more time reviewing the information would have led you to this conclusion.
i cant say that i'm totally surprised by the shoddy reporting and journalism skills of the corporate news but just felt that I should mention your errors."
