Questions for DU History buffs

1. I'd like to find a listing of all the war/military actions the US has ever participated in since its founding -- other statistics would be interesting too, i.e. casualty estimates etc.

2. How many military conflicts/wars are currently going on accross the World, and how many of them involve US interests/participation/funding?

Do such lists exist?

2. Yes, they exist...

Don't remember where I saw them... in a book, not online. But I betcha they're online and I bet someone here knows where to find them. I remember being astounded at the number of things we're currently involved in... 40+? More?

7. I saw a list like that, somewhere.

I seem to remember that the count was 209. (Can't remember if that was in all of US history or just in the 20th century, though...for some reason I think the latter). I believe it was at the end of Gore Vidal's "Perpetual War For Perpetual Peace", and if not that certainly another of Vidal's fairly recent books.
