What do you observe about this picture, either missing or present?

It was obvious to me on first glance. First you...I will respond a bit later:

The people are not in the same size from person to person. the whole thin is a mock up, check the small woman in the center left of picture. the whole thing is phoney.

That was my first instinct... but I'm going to take another look.

This is about the only place where I can post this picture and darn near everyone sees what is missing within moments

Good photo, by the way... but I am surprised he left all the "brown people" off the stage... doesn't he like to include "browns" in his photo ops, to show how compassionate he is?

I'm not sure what you were looking for but one thing that's missing is that there is not a single African-American, Hispanic, Asian or other person of color.

His dad is professional photographer - he's always doing photos of family members with famous people (ala Forest Gump). This photo is definitely the same.

But I don't know why, if it is. Bush's right hand thumb does look strange and the bottom left corner looks weird( the figure in black with hand on rail). Cut out figure of man in front of bleached blonde. Weird that any one would bother playing with this pic unless the idea is to show that Bush isn't afraid to shake hand with those in front of the rail?

It feels so good to be among my own skin-colored people, the real Americans. Reminds me of the rallies Grampa Prescott told me about - the ones he went to in Germany. Anyway, always be proud of your skin color. Remember that we white folks with regular skin color are setting an example, and never be scared to shake hands with someone with brown skin. Sorry yall, I hate borrowing my wife's login but mine own is still not working right.

Overall, if this is a real photo, it's not a very good one, at least not now. My guess is that the scene itself is real, but that there is a lot of cropping involved. I'd guess there are at least four individual retouches and/or crops in this photo to make it more palatable to his base. At any rate, one it gets reproduced - shrunk, expanded, or just displayed on different browser versions - the image begins to lose some sharpness and to acquire what are known as "artifacts" - kind of the image equivalent of translating "God is cool" into a foreign language and translating it back as "Jove is not interested."

Here's what I see, present and absent:
(1) *'s thumb is enormous. Look at the guy in front of the fellow actually shaking his hand. The thumbs are not remotely comparable. Also, Bush's thumb should be in the center of the lighting, yet it somehow looks kind of dark. It doesn't look real.
(2) the kid in the blue shirt is also in sharper focus than the rest of the group. If that's the point of focus of the photo, as the lighting seems to indicate, then why are there varying levels of focus amongst the others in this picture? Motion might apply to some of this, but not all. One fellow looks like a late 50's cutout (the male face closest to Bush's nose). The handshake doesn't look cropped - note the forearm shadow. The height variances amongst the crowd are interesting too.
(3) There are two cameras, at least, pointed in the wrong direction.
(4) If you look at the crowd, the general impression is that of a group whose focus is *. Looking individually, however, you see a lot of people looking in the wrong direction. These are supposedly some of his biggest fans - and he's SHAKING HANDS. Wow!! These folks, one would expect, would be riveted to the man, hoping to catch his eye, get a smile or wink, etc. This doesn't seem to be the case with about 30% of the people here.
(5) There's a variance of lighting amongst these people that looks funny. Some people who, it would seem, should be less well lit are much brighter than others in this image.
(6) No minorities. These are all white folks. No Hispanics, no Asians, no blacks. And, significantly, only one bearded/moustached man (neatly trimmed, of course). No T-shirts. No handicapped persons; one matron in white looks to have a neck brace, but closer inspection reveals that those are her hands. Only one guy wearing glasses. It's not a Wonder Bread convention - more like an Aryan Nation Cotillion.

But you know what? This photo is sort of a microcosm of this administration. The whole idea is to make you look in one direction while the action (read: the money $$) flows quietly somewhere else. (Here we sit and analyze this photo while he pockets these poor fools' contributions.) Note that this prison abuse scandal broke and riled everyone up, and in the midst of it all, this little Cuba weather balloon has been lazily floating up. Even if the prison scandal isn't by design, it certainly would be seized on as a double opportunity: the American people are diverted by sensational images and the administration can act suitably morally outraged. Meanwhile, quiet seeds of a future Cuban action can be implemented with minimal notice or interference. And - with world opinion heavily against the US, there is less chance that public opinion overseas will sway the administration, rather than more chance, if a Cuban action is enjoined. There will be less to lose in the international arena.

Again, folks, when you look at ANYTHING that happens with the guys in charge, figure out where the potential benefit is - what's the right place to be at that time? - and you'll have a clearer picture of what's going on, and that the person who happens to be in that spot quite possibly - if not probably - isn't just there by accident.

The young man in the front and Bush* are not making eye contact. The Young man is looking past Bush* and Bush* is looking over the head of the man extending his hand. In other words, the whole picture is out of focus and must be staged. That aside, most of these people look like they are out of the 60s.
