Zahn offering up Rumsfeld to save Bush
Paula Zahn is offering up Rumsfeld for resignation. The hope is to find a fall guy so that Bush can still run in 04.

The war is clearly over. The US is unable to proceed from this point. No hearts or minds will ever be won by us after the Torture images.

Powell now admits this to himself and he wants out.

Boy - all Bush can do is blame others. So many people have let him down. That he can't choose anyone reliable is itself incompetent.

If repukes were smart, they'd give up for this year's election. Its hopeless.

I hope Kerry runs ads with the torture photos all over TV and blames it on Bush.

1. No the photos most stay out of commercials
for the same reason the 9.11 victims must stay out of commercials

That said... heads WILL ROLL at Senior Levels of DoD... this is also
the end of the Neo Con movement, for a long time

4. wow, I LOVE this thread.
Thanks for making my day, MBF. I have waited a long time for this thread to materialize.

I never thought it would come to this. Rumsfeld needed to go a long time ago. I can't think of anything more gratifying than to see this devil kicked out in disgrace.

6. Don't get too excited. It might be Wolfowitz instead.
Not that that would be bad. Actually both would be better!

Just who would they put in charge of DoD?

20. I have just the guy...

Lt. Gen.(ret) Paul Menoher US Army, President, Paul Menoher& Associates, Inc.

Paul Menoher is President of his own firm, Paul Menoher & Associates, Inc. which he founded on 1 November 2001. Prior to that he served over four years with industry as a Vice President for Business Development. He also serves on several senior advisory councils, including the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) Intelligence Committee; Battelle's National Security Advisory Group; and the Association of Old Crows Senior Advisory Board; he is also an Associate Director of AFCEA.

Prior to joining industry, LTG (Ret) Menoher served over 35 years on active duty in the US Army, retiring on 28 February 1997, as the Army's Senior Intelligence Officer, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence (DCSINT). He assumed the position of DCSINT on 10 February 1995. Prior to that he served as the Commanding General (CG) of the US Army Intelligence and Security Command; CG of the US Army Intelligence Center and Fort Huachuca, AZ; CG of the US Army Intelligence Agency; and Director of the Army Intelligence Master Plan.

Before becoming a General Officer, he commanded the 501st Military Intelligence Brigade in Korea; served as the G2 of VII Corps in Germany; Chief of Collection in ODCSINT, US Army Europe; and Chief of the Combat Intelligence Division, US Army Forces Command. He also commanded two battalions and served in Vietnam and Cambodia.

LTG (Ret) Menoher was commissioned through ROTC at the University of California, Berkeley where he received a BA Degree in International Relations. He has a Masters Degree in the same field from George Washington University. His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Defense Intelligence College, the Naval Command and Staff College, and the US Army War College. He also has an honorary Doctorate from the Joint Military Intelligence College.

His awards include the Distinguished Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Legion of Merit with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Joint Service and Army Commendations Medals, and the Expert Infantryman's Badge. He also has received the Military Intelligence Corps' Knowlton Award and has been inducted into the Military Intelligence Hall of Fame.

He is married to the former Bebe Etzler of Dallas, Texas. His son, Scott, is a civilian employee of the National Ground Intelligence Center but has been called to active duty as a US Army Reserve officer and assigned to the Joint Special Operations Command, Ft. Bragg, NC.

I know General Menoher; he was my brigade commander in Korea. He is as honest as the day is long and he knows the military inside out. Whether he'd stoop to working for Shrub is an open question, as is the question of whether Shrub would keep him longer than a week (General Menoher will let you know where you stand), but this is the guy you want as Secretary of Defense.

5. photos of bush* minions sexually torturing and killing POWs seems
Edited on Tue May-04-04 07:32 PM by amen1234

like a surreal ending to the "compassion-christian bible-toting holier-than-thou bedroom-invading" bushie empire...maybe there is justice in this world...I often thought that the bushies would collapse fast like the enron scams...but it was hard to envision the collapse as christian crusader sexual slasher photos, of American troops acting like nazis, killing and torturing POWS....

if we work hard to get Kerry into the White House, there's a real good chance that most of these reTHUGlican leaders would be put in prison, just like nixon's compatriots were (except that reTHUG Ford went to immoral lengths to release a bunch of those criminals - to come back and haunt us againg now today....for reTHUGlican nixon's scandals, even the Attorney General (John Mitchell) spent a few years in a Federal Penitentary...IMO, the bushie rats have already began to flee their crimes...the ones who got out early under nixon were spared, while the ones in denial who stayed to the end went to JAIL....the finger pointing has began...the bushie scandals are huge and disgusting....more is coming out every day...these reTHUG war-criminals will do everything to Kerry to keep themselves out of prison and to keep power...if Kerry wins, they all will loose their war-profiteering businesses, their sex-torture chambers, their wars, their oil empires...and GO TO JAIL....

work to elect Kerry...SAVE AMERICA....

Friend Says Powell Uneasy With Ideologues

The article also has the following comment about Powell attributed to his chief of staff, Larry Wilkerson:

"He's tired, mentally and physically. And if the president were to ask him to stay on — if the president is re-elected and the president were to ask him to stay on, he might for a transitional period, but I don't think he'd want to do another four years."

14. Throwing out Rumsfeld or Wolfowitz will not help *.
He backed them when they came up with the plan. He backed them when they put down Shinseki who said we'd need several hundred thousand troops. He backed them when they allowed the looting of Baghdad. He backed them when they came back asking for big bucks.

\They are his guys and if he throws them out, he throws out his own part in the plan.

18. They're not going down over some "fraternity initiation pranks."
This outrage is going to go by the same as all the others.

Most Americans DO NOT CARE about this, or they think it's "justified" either as revenge for 9-11 or as part of the war on terror.

I think the DUer who said the story will have legs because it's about sex is correct. It will hang around a bit longer than most of the other outrageous stories. but it won't significantly harm Bushco.

If America doesn't care about 10,000 dead Iraqi's, why will they care about some "brown-skinned people" being playfully humiliated by fun-loving G.I.'s.

The only good thing might be if Rummy turned on Bush like a rabid dog.
