OK, I'll keep asking until I get an answer: So what did we mean when we
said that the enemy caught on the battlefield in this war on terra would not be covered by the Geneva Convention rules? What else did it mean besides, no access to evidence or attorneys; no access to family, no access to due process? Did it mean free to abuse, torture, and kill?

And just who gave that order? Who made the decision? So where does the buck stop?

2. W signed an exec order that president could decide
if person was a danger (1st it was foreign national; later it 'sorta' was extended to US citizen)...

and then...

...secret arrest

...secret detention

...secret trial by military court

...lawyer from the military

...secret verdict

...secret execution

...no right of appeal

W signed this after there was discussion/controversy over 'patriot' act.

Woke up to this on the news one morning.

America is no longer America.

3. So, if you are a soldier what are you supposed to think? The tone is set
at the top. If the Commander-in-Chief, signs an executive order saying all of this, wouldn't you think you could do anything to a prisoner and get away with it? That's my point. Bush is responsible. The fact that few responded to this post tells me that this is even too much for most people to admit to.

4. Bingo! You got the loose thread in the sweater. How can we pull it
until this unravels to the top?
THE SOLDIERS GOT THE IDEA FROM THE PRESIDENT'S POLICY STATEMENTS AGAINST "TERRA" PRISONERS.

5. Don't be discouraged by the lack of response
I for one agree with you. Bush himself set the precedent for the treatment of those captured and is responsible. We need to re-examine our treatment of prisoners from the very beginning.

I still remember the collective yawn that went up when the pictures of John Walker Lindh came out, showing him trussed up like a Thanksgiving turkey. I was aghast, as some others here were, but the public at large didn't seem to care. What happened in that Iraqi prison isn't new, nor unique. We have been doing it since the first advance team arrived in Afghanistan.

We have a sicko for President. That Psychco grin really is a sign of mental illness.
