Condi speaks to Al -Jazeera
Appearing on Al-Jazeera, Bush's national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice said: "The president guarantees that those who did that be held accountable. We have an open and transparent system, and people will see that we are determined to get to the truth and to find out whether this issue was widespread."

Rice told a second Arab network, Al Arabiya, that Bush "will speak directly to the Arab world," and a White House official said the president may do interviews with Arab television to underscore his outrage.

Open and transparent system, what like the accountability for 9/11?
Oh what tangled webs we weave.

Half of your own country doesn't buy your swill Condi, you expect the Arab world to? Ha.

There is more hypocrisy in this story than you will find in an hour surfing the Internet...

1) Al-Jazeera: Oh, NOW they need Al-Jazeera! They kicked them out of Iraq because they didn't like their reporting. Now they need Al-Jazeera and can't jump through their asses fast enough.

2) "Overseas, U.S. embassies asked for guidance on how best to respond to the inquiries they were getting, and were referred to transcripts of what President Bush's top aides were saying publicly at home. Those aides rushed before TV cameras targeting Arab audiences, promising justice and expressing regret." This leaves me speechless considering EVERONE is in CYA mode.

3) "President Bush decided to take a similar tactic. White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Bush would conduct brief interviews Wednesday with two Arab television networks, U.S.-sponsored Al-Hurra television network as well as with Al Arabiya. They will not be aired live." They actually think someone might actually believe any of the bullshit coming out of their mouths.

4) " Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites), at the United Nations (news - web sites) for meetings on the Middle East, said the Americans responsible would be "dealt with in a way that the world can observe and watch." Oh NOW we need the UN too.

5) "First of all, we made mistakes in this case, clearly," Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage told U.S.-sponsored Al-Hurra television. Punishment will be doled out "appropriately and correctly," Armitage said, because Americans want to be seen as "people who take the view that no one's above the law." Appropriately and correctly?? This is the same administration that can't find the anthrax mailer or who outed a CIA agent and we're supposed to belive this??

6) Condi: "We have an open and transparent system." I'm speechless.

7) "There also was little inclination to officially apologize — a gesture that experts say carries significant weight in Arab societies. When asked about the possibility of apologizing in order to compete in a "war of ideas" in Iraq, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said he hadn't thought about it." Words fail me.

8) "There may be things that we can do that would be helpful in helping the world understand that this is an exceptional situation," he (Rummy) continued." Just one big fat lie. He's known about this for months. LIAR!!!

9) Open the prisons to international inspections? When hell freezes over.

10) "One of the problems they have is that people literally disappear," Los Desaparacidos? And John Negroponte will be the new Iraq embassador.

If there is any consolation in any of this it should be that all of them are waking up in the middle of the night screaming after dreaming they were convicted at the Hague of war crimes.
