Here's the real story behind why GWB was AWOL
(from another board....no link)

Here's the real story behind why GWB was AWOL during his time in Alabama and later Texas after he returned.

The F-102's had nuclear weaponry capabilities and fell under the Human Reliability Program, whereby a commanding officer could ground a pilot for cause. In the case of GWB and James Bath, they were deemed "unreliable" and grounded for substance abuse in a two page disciplinary report by LTC Killian. Call LTC Bill Burkett who witnessed Dan Barlett removing incriminating documents frem GWB's TNG files at Camp Mabry. LTC Burkett's number is 325-854-0145. That is why he didn't get his flight physcial. He already knew he'd never fly again for the TNG so he just basically quit and got out early.

THAT is also the real reason GWB's TNG files were secreted away at the Pentagon and all FOIA's and all questions are directed there. GWB spent time at the Schick Treatment Center which specializes in Cocaine and Alcohol abuse.

Call and ask Scott McClellen, or Karl Rove if it's true. They will go postal. Ask if they will release GWB's microfiche of his military file in it's entirety.

1. Yep. If they want to compare what Kerry was doing in 1971
versus what Georgie was doing in 1971 I say 'Bring it On."

Do you really want to go there ,Karl?

Scumbags.

4. I had heard about this before and am familiar with the Personnel
Reliability Program, having been an officer in a nuclear capable field artillery battalion.

5. I`ve read simular stories before. Also ones Re: Court ordered Community
service in I think it was in Houston. Possibly the MARTIN LUTHER KING CENTER,something like that. This was being discussed in forums during the last Presidential election. The story never got beyond the WEB. Who knows, maybe this time around some mainstream media types will look into it. ...Oscar

7. Here is an article about the Shrub and "Human Reliability Program"
Edited on Tue May-04-04 10:41 PM by No2W2004

From 1975 through 1984, Abrams' research shows 51,000 personnel, or about 4.5percent a year on average, were decertified from the Human Reliability Program.

Most of those investigated and decertified were in the Air Force.

‘‘The military takes this very, very seriously,” said Lloyd Dumas, professor at the University of Texas at Dallas. He is the author of ‘‘Lethal Arrogance,” a 1999 study of human foibles and dangerous technology.

‘‘People of a lesser rank can even remove their superiors (under HRP). It's one of the few areas where rank doesn't matter,” Dumas said.

Bush's suspension, his spotty final year of military service and his failure to take his flight physical are puzzling, Dumas said.

‘‘If Bush was under the Human Reliability Program, there should be a paper trail. And if there's not, that's very, very unusual,” the University of Texas professor said.

10. So if I understand this correctly...
a man who may once have been deemed unfit to handle nuclear weapons is now in control of our entire nuclear arsenal. :scared:

8. It makes sense
Clearly they were (and are) covering something up about his TANG "service" and not just that he was lazy. My understanding is that when a pilot is taken off flight status for any reason whatsoever there is a report prepared explaining exactly why. This report has never been released and the best that the White House can come up with is that Bush didn't feel like being a pilot anymore. IF we had an independent press in this country they would have kept hammering at the story until the truth was uncovered. Unfortunately there's only so much Helen Thomas can do by herself...

11. That would fit with the apparent timeline of events
The scenario most commonly presented has been one in which Bush simply got bored of flying, went off to Alabama and skipped his flight physical, and was grounded as a result. That's discreditable, but just barely passes muster under the spoiled-rich-kid-who-later-got-religion excuse.

However, the one thing that undermines this scenario is that Bush began performing the apparent community service in Houston in January 1973, only a week or two after he got back from Alabama. That means that if there was a drug offense involved, it has to have occurred prior to April of 1972, while Bush was still in Houston.

And that would imply that Bush did not give up flying voluntarily but was grounded for cause, and decided to duck out of his remaining period of service because he was no longer allowed to fly.
