Kerry not qualified to be President
Edited on Tue May-04-04 10:23 PM by Elwood P Dowd
The Swift Boat Gang claims Kerry is not qualified to be President. O'Neill said tonight there were two reasons. First, Kerry served only a few months in 'Nam and then went home. Second, Kerry insulted those who served with his claims about atrocities.

So they want to use ONE SINGLE COMMON DENOMINATOR to determine who is qualified to be President in the 2004 election, and that is the behavior of the two candidates who were young men in their 20s during the War In Vietnam.

John Kerry -

Volunteered to fight for his country in Vietnam.
Was in engaged in combat on several occasions.
Received a total of 5 medals for his service.
Came home and told the truth - the war was wrong!

George Bush -

Chickened out and poppy pulled strings to secure him a safe slot in the country club Air National Guard. Never set foot in Vietnam.
Failed to show up for duty in much of 1972 and 1973. Refused to take a flight physical and was grounded.
Later told several lies about his National Guard service.

So you tell me O'Neill, who is more qualified to be President?

1. I'll tell you...
Dennis Kucinich is more qualified to be President, simply based on the fact that he isn't the RICHEST SENATOR IN HISTORY!

2. Kucinich is qualified but can he be elected?
I doubt it. I like Dennis- I agree with him on many points but Kerry stands a much better chance of being elected and Kerry will make a good president.

10. not if Democrats at the get-go buy into the shut-him-down rhetoric
who started the 'can he be elected' meme/mantra/rumor?

probably "Democrats"

imagine if we had put our heart, soul and contributions behind him ...

of course, if he had massive investment portfolios in all the corproations which are destroying our society; had accepted corporate money and influence; and, kissed the media's rear, I guess they would have given him a leg up

he'd be electable if we said so

the DLC has won, again

3. Right on!
There is no way someone who was successful is qualified. Want proof, how about Bush. He was given an oil company and screwed it up, no success there. He screwed up the baseball team, no success there. He went AWOL from the TANG, no success there.

Thats what you want for a president, a globally acknowledged MISERABLE FAILURE, certainly not someone successful.

4. Kinda' like Harry Truman
After Ike's inauguration in 1953, Harry and his wife loaded up their car and drove back to Missouri. Not many left like ole' Harry.

6. before the primaries began...
...i proclaimed that i'd vote for the deadman/potatohead ticket if it ran against bush. so now i have my chance... i don't really care for kerry, but we've got to make sure he wins, even if he, the DLC and the dnc really don't seem to want to...

7. puhleeeze.
We all know Bush is the more qualifired canydate based on his adept avoidance of military service, skillful manipulation of the courts on his DUI charges, spectacular parlay from oil company bankruptcy to Texas Ranger millionaire....it's not about the money, my friend.

9. The constitution put no financial qualifications on candidates.
Clinton wasn't rich. They tried to destroy him financially.

I don't want to accuse anyone of bigotry, but this does have that odor.

11. I voted for Kucinich
But Kerry being rich doesn't detract from his qualifications for president. He is extremely talented, a political winner, and he didn't allow his privilege to make him soft like a certain Resident I could think of. I like Kucinich's policies better, but Kerry will be an excellent president.

5. I think the criticism of Kerry for speaking out
about atrocities sounds rather hollow after seeing the photos from Iraq.

By the way I was teaching at a community college during the Vietnam era. One of my students told me details about an atrocity he was part of. He very much regretted what he did. He will have to live with it the rest of his life. I have never forgotten it either.

12. Why don't they even mention *Bush?
This guy has avoided going to war, failed to find oil in Texas, and traded Sammy frickin Sosa!

Honestly, what makes them think someone who actually served and called it like he saw it, could do a worse job than *AWOL?

Oh well, no one has ever accused neocons of using logic.

What really pisses me off is that these people are really ripping on our troops in Iraq as well.

It is like Log Cabin Republicans.

How can they vote for a group of people that hate their guts?

13. It's republican logic I guess
A is greater than B. B is greater than C, therefore A is greater than C unless A is a democrat, in which case C is greater than A.
